Got an early Christmas gift from my wife. Lil short 45. Sweet little number. And the gun aint bad either. I like these short 45s and this is the second one the wife has given me. First was a New Vaquero 45 ACP. This one does have a little catch in the trigger so i tore it down and saw this. I dont think it's normal. Can anyone confirm? Seems like the sear should be perfectly smooth?

Seems like the sear should be perfectly smooth? ----Joe ***** Joe.... believe you put your finger on it. I’ve seen that serration across the sear tip on single action triggers----always associated with a lousy pull. Now you’ve put your finger on it. Some purple-ass baboon designed that groove to create a 2-stage single action trigger, as though it will throw the shooter into second thoughts on whether or not he wants to pull the trigger. The idea is to stall letoff, sew confusion. Fixed one on a Ruger by replacing the trigger. Fugitive gunsmithing. I would bevel the sear tip so that the rear edge (which seats in the notch of the hammer) retains its length. You don’t want to shorten the sear; to do so shortens hammer fall (while creating play at full cock). Until your photos and description, I was not aware that that groove is a disease of gunsmithing. If you can’t clean it up, replace the trigger. David Bradshaw

I've had the pleasure of meeting both you and your wife. Joe, you are indeed a man most blessed.
As to that trigger sear, from what I can see of the trigger, it looks as if it comes off the high point last when firing. Have you tried to see what engagement looks like between hammer notch and sear?
All Single ACtion triggers I've ever examined were sort of knife edged.

Thanks yall! I definitely got a keeper! She is a good and kind woman that enjoys my hobby (obsession) with me.
As for purple a$$ baboons, i think a 250 grain cast over 7 grains of 231 will be the ticket.

Um, 'scuse me ! What would be the proper gun/load/bullet for the "purple-ass baboon "? One of them brightly colored powder coated bullets, on top of as much 296 you can cram into the case.
