To each his own, I guess. There was a dealer looking to sell an otherwise fine 4" blue 29... had some pitting on the frame and barrel so he sent it to robar. Now he has a 29 with accentuated pitting and rust specs sealed and forever frozen in time. He didn't read the less than fine print that says they don't do any polishing, and now he has a gun thats worth less than it was when he sent it to them, but he still wanted a premium for the NP3. Course, ugly guns can be fun too... nothing like having a sidearm that you don't care about the finish of. It does suck that he modified a 5" gun, but, it was his...

On the bright side, the other 499 factory 5" guns are now worth more.

On the bright side, the other 499 factory 5" guns are now worth more. Exactly what I was thinking. I use that logic as a coping mechanism for times I see guns or classic cars that have been butchered. BTW, the fact that the guy kept referring to his revolver as a "weapon," tells me a lot about his mindset.

Never thought of the other 499 being worth more. Maybe I should put mine up on Gunbroker.

Who would do such a thing to a gun!!!! YOU SHOULD SEE THE TWO TRIPLE-LOCKS I HAVE. ONE WAS ORIGINALLY A TARGET MODEL. I BOUGHT THEM FOR LESS THAN $400 APIECE SO THAT SHOULD TELL YOU SOMETHING. CUT TO 4", BUFFED, NICKELED, ETC ETC. I HAVE PUT THEM BACK IN SHOOTING SHAPE WITH NEW SIGHTS.

I can't believe that someone bid $1750 and it didn't meet reserve!

The work may have ruined it as a collector's piece, but it seems like it would make a great gun for actual use. Assuming it shoots, of course. Looks as though someone took a gun and made it into something that suited them and their needs, nothing wrong with that.
