After the first of the year I will be sending a gun to JRH for a project and plan on talking with him about the 475 spl for another project. In the hunting forum here there was a mention of the 475 spl built on a N frame Smith.... here is a link. singleactions.proboards.com/thread/18433/2nd-annual-holiday-bovine-bashIt is shown 7 pics down. I am guessing it will be a 5 shot depending on gun it is built on. I hope they will do a write up on the N frame soon as I am very interested in it.

It's a five-shot N-frame, and a cut down .475/.480. He's building one for me.😀

You guys are too much. Every time I think I've reached the top, someone ups the ante on cool.
Sure hope we see that 475 Smith on here.

The 480 Ruger has become as lovable as the 45 Colt for me, I really don't need a reason to get into another .475 bore! This thread needs some pictures...

I considered the 475 Special in my recent Flattop Midframe build. But, in the end went with the 480 Ruger. It loads down so easy anyway.
Next Huntington will be a Single Six (Five) in 25-20.

25-20 is a great choice!

Think N-frame gentlemen- that's where this cartridge has its place!

Think N-frame gentlemen- that's where this cartridge has its place! No doubt. I've never been a huge Smith fan. But, did just add my second N-Frame. A NIB Heritage 44 Special with case hardening. That one got my attention. Hope you post pictures of that gun when it arrives.

Does Huntington re-bore the factory N-frame barrel? If so, is the re-boring done by Huntington in-house or is it sent out? Thinking hard about an old Model 25-5 I've got collecting dust in the safe... 45 Colt with .456" cylinder throats Perfect candidate for a caliber-switch.

Any chance the 475 Special becomes a 475 JRH? 400 grain bullets at 800 FPS are a lot of fun and hit like thrown bricks.

Huntington does his own re-boring and can re-bore a factory barrel or put an aftermarket unit on it.

I'd have to do some digging to find out for sure but I'm fairly certain it's .44Spl length and shorter than the Cooper.
