You need to really be more careful what you put in your peace pipe there Bruce. That loco in the coco weed is bad stuff. Just look at Stan! He can't even keep track of his dang guns!! I wish I had that many.....

Man am I glad to finally be back on this project. I finally got a chance to break away to Hartons where we did some work on The One. I was wanting to re-use the Ruger 7 1/2" barrel I took off the SBH Jeff Hoover gave me in 2010. However it isn't as simple as a direct swap. For it to on the OM Flattop it has to be set up on the same taper and turned down. More, This little Flattop didn't have a square breech face. I think where the barrel bears on one side of the frame and not the other might be one cause of that syndrome where your sixgun wont zero unless the rear blade isn't all the way to one side or the other. So the face of the receiver had to be corrected and of course the barrel has to be timed or the ERH won't bolt up. The forcing cone was also precisely recut and left me wanting to shoot this one ASAP. We also welded up the gas ring to eliminate and end shake and with minimum forcing cone clearance. It was great to see my old friend and teacher Alan Harton. Before anyone says "Hey, I thought he wasn't working on Rugers anymore" be aware we started this project some years back! The stocks were fitted by Zane and I thought the finish was too dark so I lightened it up a bit.

Neat project! Did you anneal weld to be able to machine it?
Did you have to do any thing else to the frame?

Kinda wondering abut the long flutes. Seems like they reach into the bolt ( Oops ,Sorry DB, cylinder latch ) turn line.
Does that go bumpity bump?
