No, it's the new no drill, no tap short base. I really like it!

I'll look up the part number for you in the morning. I think it will hold up. While my .45 Colt is no .500, it's been fed a pretty heavy diet and everything up top seems to be working as it should.

Those pictures give me the woolies just thinking about all the people walking around that country with low quarter brogans and short pants on. I hope you had leggings on and just removed them for the photo shots. I've seen rattlers in that country that were longer than I am tall.

Everything is ordered . Gonna mount on a Reeder Bisley 5 1/2 " . 510 gnr. I don't push to hard so hopefully a 375 mountain mold cast slug at 1000 fps wont be too much for the base or the dot. Dang picture of Whit with that combo just cost me some moola!

I hope you had leggings on and just removed them for the photo shots. I've seen rattlers in that country that were longer than I am tall. My recollection is that only two of us were wearing shorts. I typically wear Carharts, but they won't stop a snake bite. That said, I have never seen a rattler out there. Had I, or anyone else seen one, it would have been summarily shot. As a southwesterner, I have a healthy respect for rattlesnakes, but I don't fear them. The biggest concern we faced was torqued-off bovines and chiggers. However, I appreciate the concern!
