Haven't been on the boards in a while between busy fishing and hunting season this year--and work trying to mess both up. Was fortunate enough to head back into the foothills of the western Brooks north of Kotzebue again this year. Flew into a little bush landing strip my father-in-law made 22 years ago. Weather was a bit lousy at the start and end of the trip (causing a couple days delay in Kotz heading in and out) but had a great time in between. Watched this beautiful little boar Grizzly for a couple hours the first morning. We were up in a saddle surrounded by blueberries and he continued eating up towards us and finally decided he needed to make a trip home with me. We had great success calling moose in each morning, but slow the remainder of every day. The 4th morning, called in this beauty. He isn't as wide as he initially looks, but more to a moose than outside spread. He is 55" wide, 14 and 13 points, 5 brow tines each side, heavy wide/long palms both sides. Couldn't be happier and have to say by far my prettiest moose to date. We pulled a 64.75"er out of this same area few years back, but no where as pretty. He wasn't very big, about 7-7.5', but man he looked like he was eating gravel for a living.

So some may wonder how the heck do you make it back from the arctic with all this mess of meat, horn and hide? Easy, many, many pack loads to camp, then belly-pod and interior of Cessna 180 (not the cub in the background of one picture) and then to a pallet, to a front loader, to Northern Air Cargo which flies it to Anchorage, then slip the entire pallet into the pickup and home it all goes. The pallet pictured was 724lbs excluding the pallet weight itself.

Nice Job Will and glad to know you're well!
That moose almost doesn't really have brow tines....they kinda' just meld into his paddles.
Beautiful bear too. All kinds of comments about those teeth but this is a Family forum and better not. Plus my ex might be lurking.....
More often than not I admire the quality trophies as much as the really big ones.

Looks like it was a wonderful hunt although one that you certainly had to work hard for, a moose in that country is a hell of a big pile of meat! What did you use for your chosen weapons this time around?

Thanks gents. Used a long gun on this hunt, and since the particular area was so open, I didn't even bring one of my Linebaughs, which is a first time I didn't have one with me in about 8 years.
Both animals received 1 well placed 200 grain accubond from my HS Precision 325 WSM. Funny, I bought that rifle a couple years ago on close out from Mile High, some gent had ordered it and never followed through, so really bought it because it was cheap for what it was and wanted to try it out--but amazingly it has made me put down my 338 WM's much more than I would have ever thought. Pretty handy rifle, deadly accurate way out, and am more than pleased with the performance of the factory Nosler loads with those 200 accubonds. Wish I could find it more readily. Finally have enough once-fired brass together that I hope to replicate the Nosler factory load this spring.

Lots of load info over at AOD forums. Stid did a bunch of load development with different powders a couple years after got mine. I hit the right combo for my gun to duplicate factory fps and sub moa accuracy. 4007SSC is the powder I use.
