Looking at the numbers, I'm guessing the PC bullets have a steadier acceleration rate with a flatter pressure curve, causing longer barrel time while the jacketed bullets have a jack rabbit start caused by a sharp pressure curve. Only way to explain it as the PC bullets have a higher velocity when they exit the barrel. This is when it is good to say ballistics is more art than science whenever we are perplexed by such an out come. I don't think anyone can argue about the accuracy potential of the PC bullets. The price tag is nice when you make your own, also. I wish that I knew for certain what the answer is. But I would have thought that the Jacketed bullets would be slower to start and that is what would cause the pressure spike. Since the lubricity of the PC is working in favor of the cast, as in a normal lead bullet, we have the higher velocity, thus a steady flatter pressure curve. And the higher velocity will mean a higher POI,, but I am not sure and I am just going to enjoy shooting some more PCed bullets. I think that it would be fun to be able to mathematically figure the trajectory on both types of bullets ( jacketed and PC ) of the same weight grain, and then see at what point they end up being the same POI. Or have a lab that I could do this in. Or I wonder if the PC would have a longer point blank range?

Let's not get carried away with the tiny velocity difference between 262 grain Powder Coat LFN over 22.5/H110 (1,456 fps); and the Sierra 250 FPJ over 22.3/H110 (1,426 fps).
Long known a cast bullet reaches a given velocity at lower pressure than similar jacketed bullet. Thus, for a given pressure, the cast reaches higher velocity. So far, my pursuit with Hoover's PC bullets is ACCURACY, to see how these bullets shoot. Tight dimensions make the Freedom Arms M83 a natural vessel for velocity. The pursuit of velocity without accuracy risks derailing the train. My aim has been to learn whether claims for accuracy from PC support the cleanliness and ease of handling Powder Coated bullets, versus the messiness of greased lead. The answer is YES. Along the way, shooting a PC .452 335-grain SWC DEEP SEATED in .45 Colt, I was elated to find that the anneal of the baking process imparts plastic upset, which emphatically increases punch at moderate velocity----1,000 to 1,100 fps. I have yet to prove the Joe Frazier left hook of PC on game----killing livestock and a stricken horse provide evidence, not proof----yet, my limited experience only bolsters that of Tank Hoover and Dick Thompson. To put it country simple, in the words of six shot, "PC is here to stay." David Bradshaw

I agree with Charles. Why question a benefit too hard? No need to water board it.
