so I was late to the 30-40 Krag party... I have a rifle... & maybe 100-150 cases... trying to find loaded ammo or new brass is litterally next to impossible... I'm at the point that I'd happily buy once fired or lightly used cases, or if anyone knows a case that is available, that can be formed to 30-40... I'd consider that as well...
as someone who is trying to get about 500 cases to work through, whats a guy to do???

Great cartridge, but few answers. Have bulk brass and three rifles so chambered.
The 303 British can be formed into 30-40, but will be a tad short.

ENCORE... I've looked several times, & not seen any ammo either... if I search rifle ammo for 30-40 Krag, all I get is 1 choice, & that is that Remington "unavailable, limited production"
I don't know what is taking PRVI so long to start producing it??? they make 303 ammo... I'm sure if they were the only one making it, they'd sell boat loads of the stuff...

You did try Gunbroker right? Quite a bit of brass and ammo there. Not cheap but its there.

was watching a bag of new Winchester Cases on GB... they sold for just under $3.00 a case the other day

But how many does a guy really need to shoot a rifle once in a while? You can shoot that thing for a long time with 40 cases. And everything else is garden variety stuff for it.

Sorry, that's what I meant. IF I were you, I'd consider this route...  I'm messing around with 35 Remington at the moment. GRUMPA, on the castboolits site, sells the cases formed from Lake City 7.62 NATO for 60 cents each, which is better than buying cases new or used and they look a whole lot better than anything new I've ever managed to scrounge up. I checked to see if he makes 30-40, but no, unfortunately. |
