those look both stylish & heavy duty... I would have guessed them bull hide, as I used to have a pair that looked similar... I wonder how many times they split the Elephant hide to get a workable thickness??? double welt stitching... are they Elephant hide soles as well??? I wear Ariat... ropers at work... like them so much I bought 2 pairs in a row... didn't wear out the 1st pair.... just had boot money to spend from work... now that I mention it... I'm due for a new pair, & my 2 year old pair are still decent... & I'm pretty hard on boots at work

Dougader, Because of you, sent my battered brown hat, the one in this pic that is even more worn now, back to Rands to have the hatband resewn on and be reblocked. brim was getting floppy and crown was all bent up and pinched in the wrong places. Good deal, Robster! Be sure and post some pics of the "new" hat when you get it back.

My favorite boots and one of my favorite single action revolvers. Boots are Lucchese elephant hide and have a lot of miles in the saddle on them. Elephant hide is tough as nails. Fabulous boots, and a sweet revolver! I had some shark skin boots once. Despite my best efforts, the skin cracked only after a few months (less than 1 year as I recall) of wearing them. Elephant seems like it would wear forever.

Beautiful in it's own, unique way as well. What area in Utah? I've been down around Zion Nat'l Park and the red rock formations there are something. But, as Dick warns, watch out for those Utah fly fisherman! We rode Zion, Bryce Canyon, Pariah River Valley (where they filmed Outlaw Jose Wales), and the Grand Canyon. gorgeous country. Wow, you really covered some area! I'd love to get back down that way.

Robster, old hats like that show a lot of character after several years. I like seeing the old ranchers around town wearing the same hat year after year, I think some of them wear their hat to bed. Most of them have a few tooth picks or horse shoe nails sticking in them to add a little more "style points". I've just never fit the mould of cowboy hats & cowboy boots although I've had some of both over the years. Problem is, if I'm in the mountains I want a better pair of boots for getting around & most times that meant a pair of White's boots, either the Smoke Jumpers or Packers. A pair of cowboy boots in some of these rugged mountains just doesn't cut it, at least for me, others seem to do just fine. A lace up boot gives me more support plus a smooth sole will get you in a lot of trouble on some of these mountain sides. Some of the country we hunt the Billy Goats are wearing parachutes!
Whit, that Bovine looks like he'd like to stomp on your Croc's!

how about some boots... I see lots of hats... any interesting boots out there??? my favorites are a pair of real ostrich boots super light, & super comfortable... wouldn't wear them out hunting... but I do wear them when out on the town... should get a pic one of these days of my CAS boots with the spurs on I've got just a couple pair of western boots. One is a basic pair of Ariat square toe western boots that are quite comfortable to wear for this curmudgeon. The other is a nice pair of Lucchese black ropers in ostrich skin (not ostrich quill). I found out those boots are not meant for cold weather wear! I guess it makes sense as ostrich are from warm/hot weather climes. I about froze my toes off one Sunday! All I have is a stuffy picture taken before my friend's funeral, and it barely shows one of the black ostrich skin boots. The Homburg style hat is considered to be the most formal of hats, maybe a tad less formal than the old top hats of the 1800's, but worn at similar events like the opera, funerals of state, etc. I had not worn a suit for 10 years, even to church and other "dress up" events. I was all about guayabera shirts that I didn't have to tuck in. Only as respect to my dearly departed friend did I wear a suit, or a Homburg hat (not really my favorite style). I sure miss Marco. He was taken by the damnable cancer that spread from his stomach throughout his body. I had to look up guayabera. I see why you like them, they look like your style. As for me, short stocky blond guys, probably not so much a good look.

I really like the look of the brim of the brown hat, but I did not like the look of the crown. it was starting to look goofy so I am having them change the crease and I can work on wearing out the hat all over again. I wear cowboy boots when out at night and during casual riding. I have tall snake boots and packers for hunting off horseback, Kenetrek mountain boots for hiking, Pack boots for winter and loggers for work. I'll have to try to get a pic of them all tonight

I don't know if I find gardens very interesting, but I sure do like what comes out of them! Corn, tomatoes, squash, bell peppers, jalapenos, zucchini, banana peppers, and watermelon.

I like gardening. Had one that was 2200 sq ft. Now I only have raised beds. I'm trying again to grow asparaugus.

My Dad always had a big garden, but he could never get his asparagus or broccoli to grow well. We went out in the sun while it lasted, all well hatted per our usual routine. I've got a Vintage Silhouettes silverbelly/burgundy custom fedora, Sandra has a 60's stingy brim (short brim) Stetson Royal Deluxe, and daughter has her Resistol Ambush.

That's a nice set-up. Would you mind sharing the details on what you have going on there? What is the length, width & height? What type & dimension lumber did you use? Do you custom blend your soil? Weed barrier on top? Thank you.
