Purty neat little boomer ! A friend of a camp member is member of a Civil War re-enactment mortar crew. He has brought it to camp. The "crump" upon firing is deceptively mild but you can feel it thru the ground when that ball is launched ! I do not recall the size, ball weight. Say, baseball, softball size ? FUN.

John Cornett used to work for the FBI. He's a very interesting man to talk to. He got this from his uncle that bought it new in '64 for 1,742.00. You don't have to worry about power steering leaks or freon leaks. To get it to stop you just have to PUUUUUUUSH the brake pedal. John jokingly says he can stand in the engine bay to work on it.

Looks like the bay of my ‘56 when it still had the straight six in it. He is right that it takes some muscle to stop and turn cars like ours that came without power steering or power brakes. Frilly pantied girly men need not apply! I could literally get in the engine bay and work around and get my feet on the floor! Not now with its new parts installed. SB 350’s are like me, short and wide and full the space between the inner fenders.

A little different here in my Mach 1. An Edelbrock sequential port FI 427 Windsor. I had a very nice Texas Hill Country ride yesterday, a couple of hundred miles. Saw 17 mpg with a 470 HP 560 ft-lbs motor. I am sure the Tremec 5 speed helped but I have done the same loop and the FI delivered with regard to MPG. Not that it matters...

So a couple hundred miles took what, two hours?

Two hrs, not at 17 mpg it didn't. He must have kept his spurs OUT of that pony.
