"America's gun is a GLOCK"
them's fighting words!
America's semi auto is the 1911 and America's revolver is the Colt SAA. if forced to choose between the two it would be the 1911.

All he's really doing in that hack piece is hawking Paul Barrett's book (which I believe would be a really good read). Like it or don't, can't really argue that the Glock isn't a really nifty piece of engineering. That aside, the undeniable absolute genius of Glock was/is his marketing strategy. That and that alone is what made Glock the colossal gold mine that it is.

Though is has no soul, Glock makes an outstanding firearm. Reliable, Accurate, Simple to Operate and relatively inexpensive.... There is a reason why there are so many out there. I don't know the numbers, but I wouldn't be surprised if Glock sells more handguns than anyone else. America's gun??? There might be a case for the argument.

I hated tupperware guns. Even when they first came out and watched early torture test I couldn't believe a plastic gun could hold up. Several years ago became friends with a guy that was a Glock shooter. He never tried to sell me on them. I'm also not a 9 mm fan and most of his Glocks were. His guns functioned flawlessly and were accurate. I shot them some and in spite of deep rooted dislikes was really impressed. I bought 3 in 45 acp and later traded the full size gun because the smaller guns fill my needs. I'm still a 1911 fan but carry a Glock. The guns are like a really good hand tool. They are dependable and easy to replace if need be. I have fed thousands of rounds through my two and the only malfunctions so far were dud rounds. That is a ammo problem not a gun issue. After I bought my first one the friend said something that has a lot of truth to it. Most, not all, people that knock Glocks the loudest have never really shot them enough to really understand why some do like them. I doubt they will ever be the number one favorite but I will probably always own one just like I have tools.

I prefer revolver to semis but my everyday carry firearm is a Glock 22. But America's gun? When I think along those lines, Glock doesn't come to mind. Smith N frames, Colt SAA's, and 1911's are what pop into my head first.

"America's Gun" label kinda wonky. Stats, damned stats, and outright lies, saying comes to mind. Besides that though. I know too many folks that go into harms way that prefer them to put up much of an argument. From a keyboard in a place of safety is one thing, to drop into a holster on your way to danger is another. I've been in contact with many folks that once cut loose from uncle sam then go to contract work and get to choose, who choose Glock. They then choose caliber by what can be found in country. My older Sis asked me n a local deputy, local LE, a specwar friend and two SEALS what she should have at hand in her home. We ALL said a G19. She will be here tommorrow and I'll put the 9mm barrel in my G23 for her to train with. We'll do a home defend/house clearing drill, and backyard redneck IDPA type shooting. She will be able to run her Glock when she buys it. Am searching my soul right now to see if I can just give mine to her. It;s my only Glock, but my local threats can be handled otherwise and am no longer searching out cutting edge type training.

My first centerfire was a 1911 .45. I have carried one for personal protection for over 30 years. It saddens me to admit that my Les Baer 45'S are being retired and are being replaced with Glock 9mms. Why? ARTHRITIS! Left wrist and right hand, cannot take an extended practice session of a .45 anymore. A Glock 9mm beats a pocket knife any day of the week.

I'm a fan of 1911s and 45s, but if nostalgia is taken away and only logic is used: shot placement is king and caliber isn't a distant second. 17 rounds of 9mm beats 8 45ACPs.

"Glock - The rise of Americas gun" (Chuckle ) Admittedly - a slightly bold and somewhat provoking statement - if you are a true American patriot. However - everyone seems to have at least one of them these days(roughly speaking). So the claim may not be completely wrong.

I litteraly have a 100 or so guns, & not a Glock to be found... in general, I'm not a semi auto guy, & can shoot revolvers much better, the autos I prefer are CZ's & their clones... I have one pretty nice series 70 1911, & can't hit the broad side of a barn, if I was standing inside I understand how they sell, & how reliable they are... I just can't get past the "feel" of the grip... & don't have a shooting buddy that swears by them, that has allowed me to shoot one enough, to either get used to the grip, or find out I shoot them better than the autos I find have a more "comfortable" grip... if you asked me... my "America's gun" would be a S&W or Ruger revolver

Thinking with our hearts, scroll up to see name of webforum, this is a bitter pill to swallow ! There are those yet that rue the day that bowie knives and tomahawks were no longer a part of a mans attire.

No Glocks here. We had one, a .40 Smith. Didn't shoot for beans, and dumped it for an SR9 Ruger that shoots and runs fantastic.

I have a couple Glocks and I use them for CCW because they work for ME, go BANG Every time and if taken after a shooting, won't hurt too much. They may be America's tool but, Sure as Hell ain't America's Gun!!! I see America's Gun in the pages of this forum! 1911's SAA & clones S&W Revolvers Colt Revolvers If an American don't own a Blackhawk, it s because they either haven't been introduced to them or don't know any better THESE ARE AMERICA'S GUNS!!! IMHO of course... BigBore44
