Congratulations on your Florida bear! I just returned from hunting deer in Eastern N.C., and the area of Washington County that we hunted was over run with bears (the season in that part of the state opens next week). I'm getting the fever to start hunting them again!

There would have been more bears taken had FWC not cut the hunt off early. The cut off was 320. When they got to 295 they stopped the hunt. 295 bears in two days tells me there are a lot more bear than FWC estimates. Congrats on your hunt. I just wish I could pop the one that gets in our trash can every year. Yes, the can is locked up now. When you call FWC to tell them you have a nuisance bear they send you a letter with a nice refrigerator magnet telling you to lock up your trash and animal feed. But whatever you do don't hurt or kill the critter or you are facing serious consequences.

I hope they do it again next year. I would go for it again. The liberal media and animal rights nuts sure do make it tough.
