I have been awful at finishing my own gun projects, so I feel good calling it done on this. And its all a matter of scope for sure. Actually Im not done, I still need a slim jim cross draw and a good belt. See, there we go. My Great Western .38 is done now with a new mainspring and a new set of old grips. Old mainspring was so stiff I thought it would tear the action up eventually. And I wanted vintage stags on it. These stags are of the dual fit Colt SAA / Ruger XR3 style - probably old Pointer brand grips.

Very nice! Sounds as if you plan to use this one.
Can you give us some history - how did it start out?

That's a classy looking revolver. Very nicely done!
I'm always hopeful that I'll run across a GW in decent shape at a fairl price, but I haven't found the one I want just yet.

That turned out great. The plum colored ejector housing goes well with the aged stag. Let us know how it shoots. -Lee www.singleactions.com

Great Westerns had been growing on me for a couple years, and then I went all in and got three of them over April and May. This was the first - an internet buy - described as heavily worn. I think he just thought the finish wasn't great with all the plumming. I think its quite good actually.
I pondered the whole original finish / reblue argument. This one Im happy with as is. One of the others is getting reblued now. Maybe I'll have some pictures of that next week.

That is one fine looking sixgun and as Lee stated that plum colored ERH is awesome. Now I wish someone would offer those as a custom replacement part. Thanks for sharing.

It looks like some of that plum juice ran on to the back strap, too. I like it! A guy can't help but drool.
