As much as I like my Bulldog and love the .44spec.., the thought has often come to me, that this lil revolver would make a great .41 spec.. If I ever end up with mad amounts of disposable income, that sounds like a worthy project for a 'smith to undertake on my behalf...

my "bulldog" is pre Charter Arms... ( by about 75ish years ) I picked up this ( appeared to be unfired ) American Bulldog in 44 Bulldog several years ago ( 44 Bulldog is like a 44 Special, Special )... I load lighter loads of smokeless in shortened 44 special cases ( about 1/8" shorter than 44 Special ) using lighter weight cast bullets... this is what an early 44 Bulldog looks like ( note the bulldog heads on the grips ) Your collection of old and antique revolvers and pocket rockets continues to amaze me MWM! 12-15 years ago I picked up either a VeloDog or Bulldog. Never could find out much about it due to the lack of markings but it was probably Belgian and as best as I can remember (not easy anymore) it was somewhere between a 7mm and 9mm. I don't think it was big enough to be a .41 or anything similar.

thanks guys... been a while since I loaded for this, but I matched the chamber length to my brass length, checked the bore diameter ( I think .429 / .430 cast worked well ) & load 1/2 way to 3/4 of the way up the 44 Special loads in my books... I think bullets are 195 grain... commercial cast bullets... my starting loads were too light & not flattening the primers enough to where the cylinder locked up or scrubbed... hence I got to where I ended up with my loads...
also note this gun has a loading gate, in an era that most had open loading ports... I don't think I paid much for it, & was amaized at the condition it was in when I got it ( bought off Gun Broker, several years ago )

When was that one built? I'm curious if it was originally built for BP or smokeless.

I have thought for quite a while how nice it would be to convert the 3" Ruger, fixed sight, small butt, GP100 to a 5 shot,44 Special. Not quite as light and handy as our Charters, but STOUT, while still being fairly compact.

Ok, GP's not officially sanction, bunny trail-wise..but you are right, a GP would make a great 44spec ! Oops.
