That's just a Nice looking gun ! Really good shooting also. I've got a couple pounds of HS6 and a pound of Win 540 . @14 gr per shot. That's a Bunch of shooting ! I also have Unique which I'm really looking fwd to trying the 10 grain load with several different boolits.

I found a great penetrator load today. Accurate Molds 480/380V Its a gas checked boolit that a member of Cast Boolits forum had them make. With 22 gr of H110 and a mag primer it's reasonable in the recoil dept. Even in the 4 1/2" SRH. It has a wide flat nose of .41" So far it's blasting thru 13 " of live healthy aspen. Which is more than the Miha 45 Ruger mold solid nose pushed by 24 gr H110 from a 5 1/2" Bisley Blackhawk. Still haven't Chronographed anything. If I had to smash a brown bears shoulder/leg ball and socket or hips with a handgun . This is the load I would want in the gun so far. Straight line penetration. No doubt there are better loads out there. But this one is reassuring.

Loaded some 10 gr Unique 385 gr 477/640 deep hollow nose this morning. Test fired several. They don't make much noise. And aren't much in the recoil department. But, I've come to the conclusion that any time a person is pushing a nearly 400 gr boolit out of their handgun at somewhere around 900- 1000 fps. There is recoil. Still, I think it will be a good load to work on my double action shooting. And It's mild enough to make shooting funner.

Finally got to the range on the way home from work. Had mixed results as far as the Chrony picking up a reading. So I had to do extra shooting to get a cylinder full recorded. So my avg velocity with the 10 gr of unique is 975 fps. Which is faster than I thot it would be. From the 4 1/2" barrel. I had to back up to 20 feet away from the Chrony for it to pick up a reading. As a side note, anyone that wishes their SRH was handier and easier to have on you. Chop the barrel ! Or have it chopped and mount a new front sight. I enjoy this gun about 10 times more than I did when it was a 7 1/2"

Does anyone have Hoover’s load data chart that they can repost? Photobucket won’t let me pull it up

Are there any commercial casters who sell the 385 hp’s?

Are there any commercial casters who sell the 385 hp’s? I've been on GTBullets about having them make a HP for the 475's and a 50 cal option as well. They are positive about it, but never really got a true confirmation about one coming to their lineup. Otherwise, I know of no "commercial" resources. I've just bought them off other forum members because I'm not set up to cast myself.

Not quite sure why but my gun seems to shoot the MiHa 385HP better when I use the lower crimp groove. The groove that makes the OAL long. I did get a hint of sticky extraction with 19.0 of 2400 and the upper crimp groove The lower groove with 14.5gr of HS-6 is still king. It averaged 1116fps and a spread of 16fps and a SD of 6. It was a ragged hole with one flyer. Im still getting used to this light trigger and let one go a little before I was ready. Do you load the same load (14.5 HS-6) with it seated in the upper groove also? If so what is your average there? I have yet to cast any of these bullets, I need to get on it. BTW that revolver is very nice!

Not finding the thread where we talked of Acme's PC'd 480 bullets, so here. I just ran off another batch of Missouri 340 gr on 8grs of TB, with some cases left over, seated some of the Acmes 370gr on 7grs of TB. In my 4 5/8 BSBH, the 340gr Missouris run 750-ish and the heavier, 370gr Acme run 715-ish. Fun stuff.

Howdy Everybody; Been quite a while since I've been on here. How have people been doing with their 480s? I haven't been doing much with guns except packin them. Started packin my 480 this winter as I walk my 2 dogs on leashes here in Delta and we have a few cow moose with year-long calves that have got cranky with us. Only got charged one time so far. But that was in the back yard. She stopped at about 15' from us as we backed around the corner of the house real quick. I brought in my 480 from the homestead that afternoon and have been packin it ever since on dog walks. 48-380V Accurate Mold GC 22 gr H110. My goal is to Not have to shoot a cow moose. But if I have to I want to Thump and dump it .
