Axe I think it looks just fine and I bet it shoots great.
I can't believe the ever expanding amount of people on here that couldn't listen to their mother when she explained that if you have nothing good to say...SAY NOTHING! That also applies to internet posts in case that was confusing...just my opinion
If Axe likes it that is all that really matters...

Hey, you are right! My dear old mom did used to say that. Heck, she probably still does!
But when he was alive, Dad ran the household. And he said "Call it like you see it".
He also said, "Take it like a man".
Though I loved them both equally, I guess his influence on me was the greater of the two.
When I post a pic, I expect to get a few honest opinions. Otherwise, I figure, why bother posting it in the first place.
But anyway, I'm sorry, Axe. I shoulda been more thoughtful. I'll be more careful in the future.
Mom made me say that.

Oh don't start apologizing to this crew.... Next thing you know we will all be drinking hot tea from little white cups with our little fingers stuck out....FWIW Critics are welcome on anything I post... Man let's brew up a pot of coffee that will stay on the table without a cup and say what we think.... Just try not to hop up on your soap box and grind on and on and on..... and don't make snide remarks about God, Mama, the Flag, and that little bitty dog of mine... ;D

axe,
I hope I don't shoot myself in the foot here since you're a good customer but I have to be truthful. I'm just not a fan of that large fancy lettering. The engraving reminds me of some of the cap pistols that I had as a kid. It just doesn't work for me. It just looks flat with no depth. You just can't beat hand chiseled (chased) ,or whatever is the correct term, engraving.
Now, on the other hand, I'm looking at a picture. If had the gun in my own hand here maybe it would weave a spell on me as some guns tend to do. Personally I have to say that without the engraving and the over sized lettering it could have a nice home with me (as if I could afford it).
Remember guys, we are all just judging a picture here.

I don't like Reeder's engraving, but I would own that gun if the opportunity presented itself. I'd just rather have one without the engraving and with more subdued lettering. I do think Reeder's #5 has the best lines of any gun of his I've seen, though.
I ALMOST bought one of those when he came out with them, but I wound up buying a TLA instead.

Could not agree more on the markings on this gun guys.... However this is only the third one I have ever seen pictures of and the only one that the stars aligned just right so I had had the opportunity to own it... That being the case I'll take it just like it is...And be thankful that there were no naked women anywhere on it.... :

I'll bet everyone has one or two little things they would change on their guns if they had a magic wand. If one wanted to own only "perfection" I think this would be a miserable world for him. I'll bet there isn't one person here who would not like to own that gun. It's the finances that really control things.

To the range? Man I am lucky to get to work! Did find the time to load some Skeeter loads for it... Maybe this weekend... Visiting Gallagher to pick up a new 500L is at the top of my list for tomorrow.... This Reeder gun will need a sight change for me to shoot my best with it... Luckily it has a FA front sight base and I have a handfull of Ken O'Neill's patridge blades.. There is a Bowen target rear sitting in the parts box that it deserves too...

From what I've seen and handled, Reeder does good 'smithing work. I know Jim Taylor swears by his Reeders, and he's forgotten more than I'll ever know.
I also think Reeder's taste is in his ass, and aesthetically his guns are affront to all that is Right and Holy.
But.............I would DEFINITELY own this one if I could. Axe, I think ye done good.

Yup.. Lots of stuff comes out of Reeder's shop that can't come to my house... Looked at one a while back that the seller descretely positioned in a nice piece of leather.... No doubt in my mind it was to cover up some naked woman etched on the thing.... Take note that it isn't that I think that naked women in general are bad...
If my understanding of what it takes to make a revolver shoot is worth a hlll of beans this #5 is going to shoot excellent... The 4.5 inch Ultimate backup has impressed me so far... May have an African Hunter 500L with a little more barrel to report on soon..
