I just got an opportunity to buy one of these from a friend. It's never been fired. Anyone have any feedback on these rifles? I have wanted one for some time......

Max, they work fine with the right bullet seated. Mine is slick with Magtech ammo, but contrary with some bullet profiles.
Feeds fine with 45 Colt.
Has been super tough, very accurate. Recoil way below what is expected.

I've got one in 480 Ruger. I've heard of headspacing issues and need to check mine. If you look closely at the headstamp on the cartridge in the picture, you will see a little half moon divot near the "O" in Hornady. Not sure if this is an issue. Picture is from the "Lipsey's New offering" thread SO far I've really enjoyed shooting it. Lots of fun, plenty of whack on the receiving end, lots less recoil than a 45-70 hot load in a Marlin 1895. I'd probably grab a .454 just to shoot hot 45 loads, after I cut it down to about 16". Tim

I've had mine for a while, but really haven't shot it much. Paco Kelley did a review on Gunblast.com gunblast.com/Paco_Legacy_454.htm . Didn't realize how long ago that was. I've never been able to get quite the velocity others get (100 - 150 fps less) and mine is a 20" bbl. Really sweet handling little carbine. This is the only "big" game I've taken with mine: . . . And a target . . Paul

Stainless or blue? 16 or 20? Does it have the lawyer safety switch on the bolt? Early ones did not have the mag tube screwed into the receiver and the would shoot loose. There were a few stainless with synthetic stocks made also. Here's the Rossi 92 guru. www.stevesgunz.comAs you know, I've posted on mine quite a bit over the years. It's a great little carbine. 20" barrel, HiViz sites. I was just packing it with 425gr a couple weeks ago on hikes in bear country. RCBS 405-FN .458 sized down. This load is with H110, I've since duplicated it with LilGun. Seem like a little less snap in the recoil and not picky about temp like H110 can be. 355 wfn in trimmed 454 brass to OAL where it will feed. Dual gun load. I could load to this pressure in 45 colt brass but I don't want to mix up the load and put it in my SBH Hunter.

A few more loads. Same 355gr LBT wfn, 45 Colt Ruger Only load 454 load. 27 and 28 gr h110, Lyman 325gr dual crimp groove boolit. Drops at 335gr. If remember right, these loads are 17-1800fps 335er at 100yds. I've also shot 255 rnfp, 260gr Keith style in 45 and 454 loads and all loads make nice groups. I think the barrel is 1:20 twist.

Good Snag Max ! That is a great little gun!!! Do not worry about the velocity compared to the longer barreled versions. Like someone has stated, the longer bullets (usually cast ) give problems. Most bullets feed fine though. If you are like me I prefer a lighter trigger on my rifles. There is some spring kits available from Unique-Tek and from the Smith shop,, Steve @ StevesGunz works on them and sells parts. I also got myself an aluminum magazine follower to replace the plastic one from the factory. There is a youtube video about slicking up the action on the 92s but, I did not start bending springs and going crazy with filing sanding etc etc. I simply made sure that there were no burrs, installed the spring kit and magazine follower. If I remember correct, I have a 3.5 LB trigger. It is fun shooting them. If I remember it was the 300-355 grains that seem to please those little carbines. I have 16" barrel also, I called it a trapper model.

Ok you got that. But maybe this will make you feel better." It IS in a Pistol caliber." I have a 500 S&W in Lever action from Big Horn and a 44 magnum Alskan that SS take down model and the puma I figure the same thing.
Me and Lee like rifles,,,,

I have one in .44-40 and its a great rifle, works perfect and very accurate. Only thing I did was get a better extractor from a CAS 'smith on the net. Factory one worked but this one is smoother. Main beef I have with them is Taurus is the parent company and getting parts is not easy. Even the extractor was a no ship part.

Is there a significant difference between the Puma and Rossi M92s? Or are they one in the same?

A Puma in 480 just sold on GB. Around $800 as I recall. I was interested when it was still at $605...
