I've got a blued Ruger 45 colt which I am debating on getting hard chromed. Anybody done this and have any pictures they would like to share? Any other finishes I should consider?

singleactions.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=gallery&action=display&thread=1297The gun in that thread is a hard chrome finish done by www.mahovskysmetalife.comScrews and pins left blue. For your blue ruger, the ERH and grip frame (if still the original alloy parts) would have to be nickel plated before the chrome will adhere. I would also have a machinist mill off your front sight blade and mill a pocket to convert it to a pinned system (Like the stainless Rugers) or your front sight blade will become invisible after it's chromed. I'm happy enough with the hard chrome and blue pins/screws look that my long cylinder 41 frankenruger will be done the same way.

I'll second Mahovsky's. I don't have any pictures handy, but Ron's work is top notch. In fact, I have an OM 44 Special conversion getting brushed satin metalife as we speak. -Lee www.singleactions.com
