boatswainsmate.... the Combat Grip on your DWA .45 Colt (large frame) looks to be a 3rd or 4th permutation of the Combat Grip shown here in Vol. 75 (LXXV). Note, also, the shorter spur on the first large frame hammer. Your .45 Colt Vent Heavy 8” is, I believe, a rare DWA M44 chambering. My .44 Mag was the first 44-frame sent from the Monson, Massachusetts factory. Two stocks were included, Target and Combat. I immediately preferred the Combat for both offhand & Creedmoor. The VH8 barely made the IHMSA 4-lb limit for Production guns. My M44 VH8 failed to make weight with a later Combat of denser walnut. A while later, Pachmayr introduced its Presentation grip for the M44. The M44 VH8 failed to make weight with the Pachmayr. DWA made a slight undercut on the 8-inch Vent Heavy shroud to make IHMSA Production weight. David Bradshaw

after the first time that it was difficult to remove barrel nut, I applied anti-seize paste to threads of all my Dan Wesson revolvers... Works..... PS- great post David Bradshaw
