Yes I am with you on that crossbolt, that seems odd, for the omition. Usually the 308 does not have that much recoil, so,, maybe that was the reason of thinking, or just cut costs. IDK But, these modern Laminates are very strong.
But anyway I wish you the best of luck on getting it bedded and hope to see a fine range report on this one day.
