Mark.... if top accuracy was achieved with stick powder, and a dropoff is known to follow loading with ball powder, avoid the ball propellant. Very hard fouling may be present, requiring aggressive therapy. Thus, the fire lap caper. David Bradshaw

You can also get some nice keyholes shooting the wrong calibers out of a gun. Had a buddy that shot some 6.5x55 in his 7.5x55 - no one got hurt, thankfully….but you could hear the whizzing/whirring noise of the bullet tumbling. I looked up the twist rate for your rifle and it's 1:14 - seems awful slow for a .224 caliber, but I'm used to 5.56x45 velocities - 4k fps is a lot of spin. I'd be hoping it's copper fouling. You won't get it out with Hoppes #9 if it is. I use this stuff ( www.kgcoatings.com ) on guns I care a lot about. Austin
