I guess I'm just a snubby guy at heart. My short barreled loads are usually the heaviest bullet for caliber kept just subsonic as I'm not a big fan of the muzzle blast and supersonic crack. My version of Mr Taffin's perfect packin pistol ideology. The only long barreled handguns I own have a very specific purpose that doesn't involve me having to carry them around (stand hunting, silhouettes, etc.). If I'm going to tote something ungangly it's usually a rifle, and usually a carbine at that (short barrels seems to be a theme doesn't it?). We agree more than we disagree on a bunch of stuff it seems! I like heavy for caliber choices also, regardless of the platform. Except for a couple of long barrel .22's my long gun tastes run to 22" barrels (or less) in bolt guns or single shots and 14.5"-18" in ARs depending on the caliber. My problem with muzzle blast stems from having a .357 go off 10-15" from my left ear when I was 14-15 years old. It was totally my fault for not paying attention. My Grandfather was shooting at our lease and I wasn't paying attention. I took my plugs out and stepped forward to look at something on the ground which put me even with or just ahead of the muzzle when he fired. Years later several cylinders from a .30 Carbine BH fired on a concrete firing line with a metal roof left me with a splitting headache so that didn't help either. Now I prefer my .357s to be 6" with as little muzzle blast as possible and the only reason I have any interest in a .30 BH is because I now have my Grandfather's M1 Carbine and I think they'd make a nice pair...

I know I've read the answer somewhere before, but will Dave Clements do the 10mm conversion on a 38spl GP100? Little 3" adjustable sight model is calling to me. My conversion started as a 4" .38. I talked to Ruger to confirm they heat treat their cylinders for .38 the same as their .357, unlike how S&W used to do (may still for all I know).

Wonder how durable this conversion would be under Glock loads?

...I really do hate this forum... First I read about the limited edition Ruger Redhawk with 4.2" barrel in .41 Magnum...and had to have one. Then the Super Redhawk in .41 Magnum and am trying to resist that...and now this.
I've got a 4" GP100 stainless that just sits there because I don't shoot .357 Magnum much... Was thinking of having Clements turn it into a .41 Special but I have three Taurus Trackers that are already perfect for that...and now I've been bit by the 10mm Bug in a big way and have three..and I swore I would not do a revolver...
...guess I should just call and get in line...Bob

The line was not that long when I had mine converted,6-8 months I think. I've got a MP mold that I will be casting with in a couple days. Ronnie

It really is a gorgeous 10mm revolver. That 3" stainless on the first page is awesome... makes me want to get into 10mm again. Super fast reloads, that's for sure.

I have a S&W 610 that I had chambered in 10 mm Magnum, & that satisfys my range use of the 10 mm itch...
but I do have a 4" stainless 357 Magnum GP-100, that was my 1st handgun... I don't shoot it much anymore, as I have several 357's though about half are used for CAS & with 38 Special loads...
you guys have me thinking about a dedicated 40 S&W gun with a 2.5 - 3" barrel, as a "fight'n" gun I already have a semi auto 10 mm & a Contender barrel, & my S&W 610, & an Automag, in 10 mm Magnum ( 610 can shoot 10mm, & 40 S&W also ) but as a handloader I have a tendancy to use the longest case, & down load to shorter cased velocities rather than fight carbon ring build up...
so a dedicated 40 S&W revolver seems just the ticket ( especially since people keep dumping 40 S&W cases on me, & I can't get rid of them short of giving them away, at the gun shows ) the correct chamber length would aid in better accuracy, I don't currently have a 40 S&W auto, seems like a win / win warm loads in the 40 S&W case would mirror most neutered factory 10 mm ammo... the shorter cases would reload faster & more positively, especially so, over the longer 10 mm Magnums
does anyone know, are the moon clips are the same between the GP-100 conversions, & my 610???

Dave set up My GP 100 to use 646N (bar code reads 084-000-014) from Brownells. Ronnie

I had Clements do the conversion on a 3 inch .38 Spcl and had the barrel slab sided and also had him do an action job (definitely worth it).

With the action job, slab side barrel, extra moon clips and return shipping the total was $980. I shipped the gun to him in February 2015 and he finished it January of 2016
