cmh, what's tired on that old Masterpiece? The barrel? BTW, you lot are giving me unholy thoughts that center on finding a reasonably priced (aka stupid cheap) Model 28 and having it bored to .41... ![(:))](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/ninja.png) I wish you luck on a stupid cheap 28, those things have gone crazy the past few years, but there may be one out there? ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

I am painfully aware of what S&W prices have done over the past 10 years. ![:'(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cry.png) Last summer I gave more for a gently used Model 63 and holster than I got for a like new 63 with box and tools 6-8 years ago. After pricing what 63s comparable to the one I let get away were bringing, I paid the man and considered the extra money the replacement cost me as another tuition payment in the school of life. If I get the prices from 10 years ago out of my head, I think a cosmetically challenged specimen with a damaged bore (as long as it's not bulged) might be had for decent money but it will take patience. OTOH I'm not real good at patient sometimes... ![P-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/pirate.png)

Great little round. Here's Harton's first Single Six built just shy of 10 years ago. Time flies. I plan to take pack it along on a pig hunt in March. Alan has done a 38 WCF M28 for so he certainly can do a M28 41 Special. I think a 3" 581 with the lug removed would be slick. ![](http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa437/boxhead61/Guns2011014.jpg)

I'll leave it 38 special and tighten it up and clean it up and not sure what it will be but do something a bit custom as it's way past nice or pristine ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Cosmetically it looks terrible. I can never imagine letting a firearm get like this one was..... FILTHY!! I've put a beautiful trigger job on it..... Super smooth single or dbl action. The bores good and lockups not bad but could better. I'll get an idea eventually lol

Wish one of you guys would buy that python barrel. I just found out that one of the best known python gunsmith's actually lives in the same house my grandmother use to live in and is a septic customer to boot! Save me from myself!

That is him Rob except he now lives in Falls City of all places. That is unless he has moved in the last week or so.

I hadn't heard that he'd moved. I still kick myself for not having him work over my Officer's Model Match 38 back when his wait list wasn't so long. His Gun Digest books are pretty good, though, and his blog is entertaining.
