Went Jack rabbit hunting west of Salt Lake City. No jack rabbits this year. Had a good time anyway. Shot my new Ruger 32-20 by Alan Harton.

Nice flat country for a nice flat shooting hand gun. What kind of loads are you using if you don't mind me asking?

I have two bullet molds for this caliber. A Saeco 115 grain plain base. and a Mountain Molds 120 grain W/gas check. I have been loading 4.2 grains of Universal clays for both bullets. Today I loaded up some of the 120 grain GC bullets with 13.5 grains of WW 680. I have not shot that ammo yet but it should be a real screamer. Also, if you look very, very closely, there is a buck Antelope right in the center of this picture. Of course the camera could not focus both of us at the same time. It was as tame as a kitten.

Winchester 680 is a discontinued powder and the holy grail for the 500 max.
Got a source?

Those sound like great loads.
I was able to get over 1800fps with 17.5gr of 296 in my Buckeye. We stopped at that point because the powder was starting to get compressed, but it was accurate and pressure signs were minimal. We used a bevel based 115 FP with gas check. Same load did 2300 fps from a Browning 53!!
I haven't gotten back to that load yet, because I've been playing with the 327, but I plan to get serious with the 32-20 next year...

I know what you mean, I'm thinking deer season now. It's been so mild here in TN this year, it's almost like we skipped summer all together.
Wish I were out your way to help with some of those gun chores though ;D ;D

Hey aggie01, I have had one pound of WW 680 sitting on my shelf for about 15 ? years. Figured it might be a good candidate for a heavy bullet load in this 32-20. Question though, is AA 1680 very similar.

Question though, is AA 1680 very similar. AA 1680 AND WW 680 SIT RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER ON A POWDER BURN RATE CHART...AA 1680 HAS A SLIGHTLY FASTER BURN RATE.... LOOKS LIKE YOU HAD A NICE DAY OUT IN THE FIELD.....

Winchester 680 is a discontinued powder and the holy grail for the 500 max. Got a source? I got some 8 lb jugs of WC680 (Surplus W680) from Patsreloading.com and some from Thunderbird cartridge company (TCCI). Sean
