any suggestions on cleaning up these grips??? I'm thinking 600-800 grit wet sanding, & a coat of wax over that???

Yup if you need to take some nicks out you can sand to what ever grit makes you happy and then buff them with polishing compound to take out the marks from the sand paper. Then buff with a good wax to seal and protect the horn. Remember horn is keratin just like hair or finger nails and getting it to hot is a bad thing. Go slow it's not bad to work with.

good timing on my part this time... I stopped by the shop today, I decided to have them high polish the stainless revolver frame, & grip frame, & spoke with the guy doing the work... they had a lot of guns to blue, so they already had mine apart, & had the barrel & cylinder polished, they'll go to the bluing tank yet this week... he said polishing the stainless will add a week to me getting it back, but it's looking like this one will be much closer to the quoted time frame... I think with the high polish bluing, & the buff horn grips & silver medallion, that the gun will look nicer with the stainless polished, rather than mat...
