Finally got everything together for my 625 3" model of 1989. It shot a little low so I had to swap out the front sight. Had to look around for a factory sight. Added Ahrends Retro banana grips. It had a little but of a doing life so I cleaned up the finish some. The guy before me carried it a lot and cleaned it none!!!! Shoots my 200 gr swc cast load very good and shot some 250 cast Keith's loaded in .45 AR brass(pictured). Also shoots that load very good. A tad high but good enough for what I'm going to use them for. Thanks to Doc for the AR brass. Now I'm just waiting for the perfect holster for it to carry it in. Until I get it it's riding in an old Hunter holster that's not quite right for it. Might be my new woods gun.

Great lookin 625! The Ahrends look so appropriate on that 3". Need a range report with photos, especially with that AR load. My affections turn toward a RGrizzle holster. Google him, he does beautiful work. I have one of his Georgia Snap II holsters for a 66 2.5" and it is the nicest piece of leather I have ever worn.

Woody, that is probably my all time favorite Smith, and what a beauty! AND, I'll have to second ezekiel's suggestion for Ryan Grizzle's work. Beautiful craftsmanship from a truly first class man.

Wow! Great looking 625. One of my great regrets is not buying one of these secondhand for $200 back in '95. The store owner knew me so let me take it for a weekend and it put Federal Match 230s into 1.5-in. At 25 yards with my then-36-year-old eyes.
Problem was I was wanting to emulate older hands in my narc unit who were toting long-barreled L & N-Frames for jumpouts in the dope neighborhoods. They impressed the target audience. Had a 8-3/8th nickeled 29-2 but agency had a "no .44 Mag" policy.
Being poor & with 3 kids under 6-years old, I decided to pass. Need to find one now!

I paid about the same from a guy that was going through legal troubles and needed money.

I could swap the grips between it and my 629 Performance Center 3 incher and they would be cousins for sure. Very nice 625. I have about all the Smith & Wessons I want, but would still like to have a pair of 625's in 45 ACP, a 3 inch and a 5 inch.

I have a pair of Smith 625's (a 5" Model of 1989 625-6 and a 4" JM Special 625-8). They are my favorite Smith's. My standard range load is a target velocity with a Mihec mould correct copy of the H&G #68 200gr SWC (4.0 grs of Bullseye or equivalent). My heavy load is a NOE mould for the correct version of a Lyman 454424 250 gr Keith in Auto Rim cases ahead of 7.0 grs of Unique for 900+ fps: Dale53

cool seeing the Autorim cases... a while back I bought a 5 gallon bucket of new unfired Autorim cases for scrap price... they were in an open 5 gallon bucket, & mice had gotten over the top layer, so there were some I had to toss, but I wet tumbled most, & saved 99% of them... I sold about half, & kept half for my 1917 Colt, & a Blackhawk I had a 45 ACP / Autorim cylinder made for... I think my hot load is 9 grains of Unique over 230 grain bullet ( I obviously use less than that in my 1917 ) BTW... love those Shorty 625's... I have an Air Lite 3" 44 Special, that's very high on my list of revolvers, & is my favorite carry revolver...
