Hello! I currently have a Uberti 1873 Cattleman in 45LC. Looking for a 44Mag. Thinking about either the Uberti Callahan in 44 Mag or the Pietta 1873 in 44.Mag. Any thoughts? I am not interested in a Ruger...too modern looking. here is a virginian dragoon in 44 magnum; i guess a less modern look than ruger, but still a big stout revolver. very accurate too. they are around, just have to keep looking for them

have seen two callahan's - they were nicely finished and the actions were smooth - especially if you remember the uberti cattleman buckhorns from the 70's - not uberti's best moment.
the topstrap is fuller than a colt clone - a little extra meat there - couldn't hurt!
does it have a transfer bar - not sure - that would make it a 5 shooter if not - if that matters..
they are pretty though!

You might try to find a Interarms Virginian Dragoon. Made in both adj sight and fixed sight Strong but more traditional looking than the Ruger BH's. I have 4 of the 5 inscriptions made in the Interarms Virginian Dragoon .44 Magnum, blued frame, 7 1/2" barrel. I'm still looking for the "Sic Semper Tyrannus." Each has a different personality but they are all good shooters. The 4th is the "Yorktown" and should arrive within a week. It appears to have never been spun but may have some storage corrosion.
I took one of them to town under my armpit the other day. Decided to check the chambers and found it loaded with snake loads.

Hawes Western MARSHAL if you can find one is one of the best bang for the buck in a 44 magnum of the type you seem to be interested in. AMEN!! I've had two of these for no other reason than they were had inexpensively. Sold one, and got the other out Friday evening and retired to the shooting bench to snap a few pictures in preparation for selling it and to get rid of some odd .44 Mag ammunition. Dammed thing shoots! I think it'd easily group even better were it not for my 52 year old eyes and the fact that the rear sight groove is a tad narrow. Frame mounted firing pin, recessed chambers and nice tight lock up. This 'un will make someone a fine utility revolver. The term "Boolit" is used when speaking of a home-cast bullet. People use the term "SAA" universally to indicate a Colt or Colt repro single action revolver. Come on guys, there are a lot of other more meaningful things on which your frayed, grated nerves could be spent.
