That's unfortunate and odd! Wonder if you can just order a replacement part? I would not suspect one instance of fanning to be the cause of the first broken bar.
Can you get a Ruger or a Replica gun with traditional lockwork?
Sorry you've had some bad luck and I hope it hasn't soured you on single actions!
