Switched one of the 550s from 500 JRH to .45 Colt and loaded 100 rnds. The other 550 produced 51 rnds of .44 mag (.44 Spcl equiv). One of the Square Deal Bs spit out 40 rnds of .45 ACP.
The Rock Chucker produced 7 rounds of 30-378. Been a crazy ride with this one. Picked up a 6 lb 6 oz Mountain Rifles Inc lightweight custom - Dakota 97 action, 26" Lilja, proprietary muzzle brake, Wtby spec Freebore and unknown synthetic stock. What a neat rifle. The break really dampens recoil without noise and concussion. Working with Norma 217 and Hodgdon 50BMG and 168gr Barnes tipped TSXs.
Norma manual shows min/max at same level. Email to Norma affirms "no reduction" got sticky bolt lift. Emailed Norma -- OK to reduce charge 3 grains max. Still Sticky bolt lift. Dropped charge 4 grains and got Norma Manual velocity over chrono with normal bolt lift -- velocity 3,520 fps. Loaded 7 above for accuracy test.
Kind of strange working down with powder charge instead of working up.
FWIW,
Paul

.45 ACP for a new Remington R1 1911 two tone (OD and black) will be picking up tomorrow. Also loaded up some 9.3x62 for the Ruger Hawkeye. SPEER 270grs and IMR4350 is looking good. 64 grs did an inch at 100 the other day.

Missed posting last night but loaded some 45 colt with 300 gr sierra JSP's used 25 grains of 300-mp fired 25 of 50 today with good accuracy, small amount of unburned powder and easy extraction with no signs of over pressure. However I had a lighter load I was trying with 280gt saa cast bullets that was not burning well and tying up the gun with unburnt powder.
I fully believe 300-mp needs to be full in a case behind a heavy bullet to get and appreciable loads. Should be able to get some velocity testing done on this load within a week.

I temporarily gave up finding FFFG so grabbed a plastic jug of Pyrodex-P FFFG fake BP. Loaded up 50 rounds of .357mag.. Used a mag CCI primer, and the 1.3cc Lee dipper. This looked to give maybe an 1/8" of compression. Only fired one test shot, but good BOOM ! , nice cloud of smoke. Pyrodex just doesn't smell as good as real BP, no history in it, ya know ? Used Black Dawge's BP bullet, softer alloy and lube.

Very displeased with my 121 grain cast bullet 38 Super loads. Traded 1000 Nosler 135 grain JSPs for 1000 Zero 9mm JHPs... Back to the loading bench..

Not actually "loading" but did order 2500 .177 pellets for my FWB 65. $50 for 2500 shots isn't a bad deal. Just spent $200 for a Master tune, new seals and mainspring. Gun should be ready to shoot me into the grave!

Finally got to the rifle range to test my .257 Wby Mag loads. I was shooting 80 grain Barnes TTSX bullets over the following charges (use at your own risk), and I'm getting 1 MOA and under so far. Looks like this rifle really likes H1000 (.5 MOA group) but IMR 7828 is the velocity champ!
80g TTSX 80g H1000 3889 3831 3805 3805
80g TTSX 68 H414 3736 3775 3814 3813
80g TTSX 76g 7828 3983 3946 3963
Also shot my .458 Lott with the bulk Remington 405 grain SP over 22 grains of Trailboss for 1,100 FPS. What a riot! Like throwing pumpkins! Just to see if it could be done, I also shot this rifle off the bench with the same bullet loaded over 77 grains of XBR. It literally knocked the spit out of my mouth! Standing-only proposition in the future with any load above 2,200 FPS!

Just in from the loading bench. Loaded 100 rounds of 45 ACP with a new bullet, 50 rounds of 38 Super with a new bullet, and 50 rounds of 357 for a new gun. Now to be on the range first thing in the morning and shoot a bit...
