Looks great. I like Marlins. I have a 1895 45/70 and a 1894 44 mag, both pre safety. I also have two old Marlins. One 1894 in 25/20 and an 1897 22.
I also have a Marlin project gun. Many years ago at a gun show, there was this 1893 in 30/30 that had been abused almost to death. Someone had sanded down the metal (rounding the edges) and reblued it. The stock and forend were beat up. A few parts were missing and broken. Probably the worst damage was that the bolt face was badly eroded. I found a smokeless 38/55 carbine barrel for it for about $16, as I remember. I bought some new parts and restocked it. I welded up the bolt face and got it back into shape. It looks so good you hardly notice the rounded off edges on the frame. One thing it needs is a magazine spring. The ejector could use some work or replaced as it's too short to reliability kick out the empties. I'd post a picture if I knew how. I don't have a photobucket or the likes.

That is great. I'd love to put something like that together one day for my boys to start hunting with.

Sir, that is a beautiful rifle. You are a true craftsman. BTW I had one of those "Vacations" to the tropics durning that same time span..

I admire folks with the skill and patience to turn the proverbial sow's ear into a silk purse. This is a fine example. Beautiful!
