"The Colt Bisley is an abomination of Victorian design.” - David Bradshaw.
Well…we might as well get a bunch of bumper stickers made up. Also…a harsh yet qualified statement coming from an artist.
Edit - secondary bumper sticker: “There are approximately 16 billion different shaped sandwich grabbers in the world.” - Ronnie Wells

for starmetal47.... Colt 4-3/4 inch Peacemaker made in 1897 with firm chamber and groove dimensions to compliment a fine revolver made for today’s ammunition. As indicated earlier, groove diameter .451-.452”; chamber exit holes .452-inch. According to s shooting buddy with knowledge of black powder Colts, these firm dimensions are not unique on early guns. Why have shooters suffered so many decades of oversize .45 Colt throats? David Bradshaw

David Bradshaw There is a lot of previous information that is not in print now. The previous bullet and cylinder/barrel specs were listed at 0.454" (at least back in the forties and earlier). I've had several dated Colts that were exactly that. They shot very well with 0.454" bullets to. Sometime after that the determination was made to go to 0.452". Of course, this does not help those makers who insisted on making 0.456" to 0.458" cylinder throats.
