Just like he got Bin Laden....and it's not even election year. Two worms destroyed so many promising lives. Hopefully the brave men and women off Boston will get proper credit this time for bringing these two down.

A fine display of police state equipment and jack boots.
Id rather see a armed citizen apprehend the islamic punk, duct tape him to a tree and call Barney Fife to come haul him off to jail
Obama then steps in and turns it into a pep raly about himself. Self obsorbed narssissit

Self obsorbed narssissit Police state equipment and jack boots? I didn't see it that way. My impression was that the state/local/federal law enforcement operation was handled quite appropriately. I didn't see any LEOs involved in that operation that remotely reminded me of Barney Fife. Citizens apprehension? That would have been a good thing, I suppose, but from what I could tell, both of these punks were particularly well armed, well prepared and very desperate. The typical armed citizen might have become another victim. Granted, that's speculative. But it seems to me the homeowner with the boat where #2 was discovered made the right move. Obama on TV: I think we all expected him to take to the airways after it ended successfully... Not my favorite president, but much of what he said was pro forma for chief executives.

Afraid I know little of the law, but the one thing that happened that bothers me a little is the police telling residents they CANNOT leave their own homes to go to work or school or the store or whatever. I understand the need to do such things especially in a case like this, otherwise they may never have caught the SOB. But the idea of being told by the police that I cannot leave my own home to tend to my own business still irks me even if it may be legal to do so. I'm not going to get all tore up about it but well, there it is.

Fully understand your position, nolongcolt.
I may be wrong, but what I heard was state/local police asking residents to shelter in place. I don't think anyone was forced to do so; more a case of voluntary compliance with what was an official request.
But I wasn't there. I know there are members who are Boston area residents, and perhaps they can provide more insight.

I wasnt there either but my understanding was that it was ordered, not requested. I could be wrong though. I hope I am wrong.

Yeah, they officially ruled that an act of "workplace violence", so they wouldnt have to call it terrorism! Who knows what they will call this. Be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

Apparently none of that matters now because apparently this piece of shit wasn't read his Miranda....... Of course Miranda only relates to the admissibility of statements made while in custody. If it were me, I'd question him in violation of Miranda, inasmuch as there is already ample direct and circumstantial evidence to obtain a conviction without any statement from the suspect. What we need to know now is where the encouragement, training, support and financing came from and more importantly, whether he knows of any other terrorist cell out there preparing for another attack. Soon as he's read his rights, though, he'll likely be smart enough to "lawyer up", and any competent defense lawyer will surely advise him not to talk. That advice would lean more toward using his knowledge as a bargaining chip to avoid the death penalty more than avoiding a personally incriminating admission. All of this may be moot, however. From what I gather, the subject sustained a (gunshot) neck or jaw wound and he's been intubated and sedated since admission to a hospital. So, theoretically, since he was arrested, he's been unable to talk and very likely incapacitated. That would make any Miranda warning invalid, anyhow.

While I admire the dedication of the rank & file Boston Police, I was bothered that their leaders would go on TV claiming that the perp was apprehended because of their brilliant police work. In fact, the citizen who owned the boat the perp was captured in went outside (allegedly for a smoke), saw blood on his boat, and called the cops. The higher ups were sooo proud of themselves and boastful on TV that it was a bit sickening.

A LOT of credit is due to the work of the police for getting this guy alive. I was listening to the scanner feed, and paying close attention to what was going on all day up here. Yes, it was a civilians tip that got the authorites where they needed to be, but it was the (FBI resorces if I remember right) that got the kid to surrender .
Keep in mind , that these cops had been engaged in MULTIPLE fire fights with these two. One MBTA cop was severly injured, and one MIT cop was killed. They had bombs thrown at them out the window of the moving SUV during the chase. A bomb went off during the fight that killed the older brother. Those guys have A LOT to be proud of for thier handling of this situation.
This was a deal that was more like the military would be handling than local police. To besmirch these guys for the job they did under VERY difficult conditions is absurd in my opinion.

Agreed with savit260.
I've been involved in some tense situations myself, admittedly not of the scale of the Boston bombing. From what I could see from this angle, it seemed to me the Boston law enforcement did a fantastic job and are justifiably proud.

.. and a lot of credit should be shared with the people of Boston , Cambridge and Watertown for their cooperation, and basically staying the hell out of the way of law enforcement. Can't imagine if law enforcement had to deal with trying to keep the general public out of the crossfire.
It was bad enough resources were being diverted to baby sit the media, and keep them from getting shot or blown up.

This is going to be as bad as the assbag (accused shooter) in the Fort Hood fiasco, He was in custody as soon as they put the cuffs on him, and he should have been read his rights. This law was put into place to protect all of us from police abuse, regardless of the crime. The cops are schooled on this, it's the law and there's no excuse for not taking 30 seconds to do it to keep the courts from turning them loose. Start suspending one law "for public safety" and where does it stop? When he was there "bleeding profusely" as was reported and in cuffs, where was the threat to public safety that Obama touted this morning? No, they just screwed up and Obama is spinning it just like Benghazi and Ft. Hood. We should all be sickened by it.

Hey I wasnt criticizing the law,I was criticizing the highly trained members of the police department that arrested him. When I was working I had 5 Miranda cards there was 1 in my wallet,1 in my badge case,1 tucked into the side of my holster,1 in my glove box and 1 in the sun visor. I am pissed that after all the death and injury and the manhunt that some idgit "forgot" the most simple and basic rule of law enforcement.
