First-rate on every front. As with all of Jack's work your 500 epitomizes the "classic" custom. Enjoy. Oh, and great photography. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

Wow that is gorgeous! That 500 JRH is a real thumper, it'll let you know in short order if you have any of your digits in the wrong place...
Did your Vaquero originally come in the Bisley configuration, or did you have him fit a Bisley grip frame/hammer/trigger?

+1 to what Lee said! Just first rate in every respect! The S&W rear sight is a very graceful addition to the Vaquero topstrap. I really like the grips too - the shaping makes them look very comfortable. And do my eyes deceive me or did you have the Bisley grip frame modified/narrowed to put more room between your middle finger and the triggerguard?
Jack's shop is only an hour from my house. I'm going to have to make it up there this summer for a visit. That should kick start me on my way to a cutom of his.
Thanks for sharing!

The base gun was a 44mag old Vaquero with a bisley grip frame. My understanding is that it was a parts clean up gun. Jack did re conture the grip frame and I can say for sure that it really makes a difference in felt recoil and saves your middle fingers knuckle. I have another stainless 44 mag Bisley Vaquero and the 500 is much more pleasant to shoot than the 44 with hot loads.

Absolutely stunning, Awesome!
Which SW rear sight is on that gun? I have a 45 Colt version of that gun and want to put a SW rear sight on it. I have procured a K frame sight and it looks like it may be too big. I thought that maybe a J frame sight may be a little more trim.
Thanks,
Don D.

Thanks for all the compliments gentlemen. While the gun was in the planning stages I spoke with Jack and told him that I wanted to use a Vaquero I had as, at the time, I liked the lines of the Vaquero better than the black hawk. I hope to hunt with this gun and the thought of relying on a fixed rear sight didn't really float my boat. Jack suggested a model 60 rear sight. Small enough to fit the Vaquero and to me it kind of looks like it grew there. Front sight has the capability of changing the blade like a Freedom arms.
