Hope I can add pics to this thread in about 7 weeks. Just got invited to head out to Oklahoma in mid January for my first hog hunt. Hog hunting has been on my bucket list for way too long, & I am more than excited. Consumed with thoughts of which guns to take & how many.

WHY a black hat Glen? Good guys wear white. We don't have any hogs here in this play ground. I have whitish hats Steve but the black one is the one that always goes hunting. Gunzo, Where in OK you planning to go? Ill be down there sometime this month most likely after pigs again

zeus, I'm headed for Rodger Mills County in West Central Ok. Don't have a clue if it's a good area or not, but I gotta start somewhere.

If its a bust Gunzo, call the chain ranch and see if they are busy. If not, they have a nice place to hunt with alot of pigs and the price is cheap.

We killed 5 pigs last weekend, but today I believe I misjudged the holdover on a small one a bit and shot over him with my contender.....CRAP!

My son killed this one with a Marlin "Texan" in 44 Mag. Near Avery, Texas, a few months ago. He was using a 44 Special round because of chambering issues(no throat) with Ranch Dog 265 gr. and 2400. Went through him and killed him quick. He was quartering towards us and the entrance is on the other side. Very proud of my boy. I took mine with a 356 Win.(model 94) and Beartooth cast Bullet earlier in the day, but he was about 20 lbs lighter than this one.. Again, complete penetration and a quick kill. Very impressed with the cast bullet performance that day.

Great picture, cdcash! That's one proud looking boy!
Sounds like the 44 Special out of a carbine is an effective round.

I swear the bullet was moving so slow I could watch it go in, but dang it did the job! Thank you...very proud indeed.

Thank you 2 Dogs. We can't wait to get back after them....nothing better than spending that time with him. Here is my little red one. My best friend got a little trigger happy and shot Wilbur who is laying at our feet. We still give him a hard time about it.
