Toroflow.... for 125 skins, you got a deal on that bastardized M-29-3. With the backstrap ground square and absence of grip fit-up, I would think recoil would sting like hell. Looks like you have a Millett rear sight (very good), with a plain ramp pinned on the front. The original Baughman red ramp of the M-29 was revolutionary in its day and, for me, proved a fantastic contrast in the varying light of the North Country, where black sights are plumb apt to vanish.
Trigger looks to be narrowed, without finishing radius, and with screw-in stop.
As your 29 is parkerized, you may consider it your unique Victory Model----mistakenly made in .44 magnum instead of .38 Special! A "real" Victory, as the War Gun was purposely made to looser tolerances than standard Smith & Wessons.
A set of scales blended to the recoil shoulder of the backstrap should turn your beltgun into a shooter. David Bradshaw

The reason I am asking about the chamber throats I believe that someone on another forum (may have been this one) has a late 50's M29 that I believe has throats .433 inch.

Nice. I bought this early M29 when we were living in Calgary some years ago for essentially the price of the "stocks". Off it went to Harton and back it came as a faux 5" M29 with proper Coke's properly refinished by a chap on the S&W Forum..

There is no sixgun more pleasing to the eye than a S&W N frame or a flattop Ruger .44 magnum. The older and more shop worn, the more pleasing to me. Boxhead that 5" is just the berries, I love the modification and the changed front sight.
