Thanks mike, thats what I was wondering, the age of the piece. I bought my first Bisley .45 Colt shortly after they first came out in around 1987 and if I ever checked throats I dont remember it. Gun shot great. Had the barrel chopped to 5.5" and sold it for something I dont remember what. Wish I still had it. However the SS one I have now is as good or better.

HS6 is a splendid .45 Colt powder for mid-heavy loads. I run thirteen grains in an old big-framed Vaquero, with a couple of different 250 grain bullets. Shoots like a house afire. Note that one of the holes in the below target looks different... that's because some idjit slipped a standard 255 RNFP load in the cylinder by mistake, LOL. Windage deflection has since been corrected. PS- that was shot rested over my range bag. I ain't quite as good as Mr. Fowler.

Here is 12gr of HS-6 with the Mihec SAA HP at 25 yards from a New Vaquero. Seems Linebaugh was right!

I've had great luck with HS-6 in my .45 colt, 13.0gr under a 270 LHP MiHa cast boolit.

I have also had great results with HS6 & some old WW540 in the .45 Colt. They are Colt level loads & give about 860fps for a 255gr lead bullet & no pressure, with great accuracy. I'm getting to like HS6/WW540 in the .45 Colt. I don't run them as heavy as some, but they suit me! Frank
