Never liked the sighting arrangement for the AK, so I'm trying out the techsight: Looks promising so far. It replaces the dust cover button and recoil spring. Locks up tight and mounts to the frame directly. I also picked up a UTG SOCOM style rail for my old chinese SKS carbine: Its wearing a 2x Millett pistol scope. Now if I can just get the pool running and get to the range!

I just clmped a Aimpoint to my AK I am contemplating adding an HK drum: This is held in place with modeling clay just to see how it will work. But I may just buy one like you just posted. Please Do tell me the source?

www.tech-sights.com/My initial thought was to try and find a Golani dustcover, but the sheet metal (according to Bob Dunlap on his gunsmithing video) flexes quite a bit. I need to fix the CETME rear sight, but I'm leery of having the sheet metal welded. I wish these guys at TECH would modify these AR sights to drop in. I may try to tinker with it myself, or just cut down that paddlewheel base with the Dremel and mount up a williams adjustable. Won't look combat cool, but it'll work! The rear sight on my SKS is a Williams replacement, I left it on cuz it clears the Socom mount.

your new tech sight looks good. i'll be interested to hear how it does at the range now. does all of the forward weight on the sks work out? i guess it's probably aluminum and some plastic for the covers, maybe it just looks heavy? good stuff either way. put a light on that thing and your wife is ready for round two with the coons!!

A little off topic but I can't help it, Hoss, did you write an article on bullet casting for a Surplus annual? The fence looka earily familiar from the pictures, BTW, I like that SKS rail set up, you got any contact info for the guys you bought it from

Heres my Arsenal SA93, right after the AWB sunsetted I went nuts on this poor rifle, folding stock, front sight, threaded flash hider and rails. I was going to get a red dot for it but I like irons to much. No matter what you have heard there are a few AK's that are accurate ;D

Nobears, cheaper than dirt is where I got the SOCOM rail. They also make 'em for the AK, FAL an the 10-22. And yes, I have one for the 10-22... Have a stockish ruger that seems to scream for more tweaking! As to AK accuracy, I had an egyptian thumbhole boatpaddle stock variant that shot Ok, but I couldn't stand looking at it. When the ban expired, I found this underfolder, and the price was right. Everybody else can have their ARs, M-14s, mini 14s and 30s, and even their FALs: The triggers on these guns are decent, and these suit me. (Now to get the CETME right...)

Oh, and priest; the rails are aluminum. They add some bulk but not much weight. Feel good to me! Prolly tuesday for the range trip... hoping it cools a bit. 102 to 105 with a heat index of 110... makes pool repair mighty slow!

Sorry about that, the fence looked familiar, maybe someone you knoe lined up a whole bunch of military bolt guns along it and snapped some photos at one time

salvo's front sight with hoss's rear (sight) sure look like they would make a nice combo. as least to my eye.

Whatever you get, I suggest the underfolder. I had given up on folding stocks as they all felt so wobbly: not so with the underfolder. It locks up tight and doesnt move, yet folds completely away, even with a 30 rounder in place. Salvo, that gas tube front sight is cool. Is it aftermarket?

with that front sight it looks more like an HK product or even Hoss's CETME than a russian.

Salvo, did you remove the front sight or did the arsenal come with a different arrangement? Now that Priest the enabler has pointed it out its really growin on me. Thats a very sweet set up. I have seen the Arsenal table at several of the local shows, but always just sort of strolled on by... perhaps I shouldn't have. Is that a machined steel receiver? I meant no offense regarding the sidefolder; had an SKS and a couple 10-22s so equipped, but they never grew on me. Had I found one that didn't have that sideplay I'd probably still have it!
