This has probably been discussed to ad nauseum...but, I just picked up an old model Vaquero .44 5 1/2" and need something besides a toe-sack to carry it in..although that seemed to work for Katherine Ross uh....Kim Darby....in True Grit geez.... I'm thinking a cross draw that I can carry on my iron pony (lawnmower) or my iron horse (Royal Star V-4). Anybody have a favorite maker...I've been looking at Mernickle. I'm more into plainer rather than ornate. If not a cross draw, then any other favorites? If hip, I like the butt forward rake... thanks in advance....oh, I made the circle back to single actions..can't get away from them apparently. I never did get rid of my NAA pocket rocket in 22 mag, however ;D

I love El Paso holsters but have gotten pretty mad at them a time or two over the wait for thier products. Once they sent me the wrong holster, which was annoying but not too big a deal until they told me I had to go to the back of the line to wait for the correct holster! No amount of bitching would budge them. Hope they are somewhat better about lead time now.

I can endorse El Paso Saddlery, Simply Rugged, & I especially like Old West Reproductions. www.oldwestreproductions.com Rick does a fantastic job. I use one of his #140s pretty regularly & really like it. I'm using a Simply Rugged Cuda too. With the inside out straps, they double as an OWB & IWB & crossdraw holster. Rob does make an excellent holster. www.simplyrugged.comFrank

I got one from Vaquero Leather. Pretty nice and reasonably priced. You might look at their site.

They do nice work but some including myself have had issues with them. I am often able to find their stuff already made on Gunbroker and that way avoid having to deal with them.

I haven't ordered from El Paso Saddlery for a bit, but I have always had good luck dealing with them in the past. For my .44 magnum Vaquero with a 4-5/8" barrel, I use one of two holsters from them. The first is a Model 77 "Tortilla" rig: And the second is their "Tanker" holster (This one is carrying my 4-5/8" .357 Blackhawk). This holster is great for packing when you are riding in a Jeep or on an ATV....:

I just got these from a guy I know from other forums. Best working rigs I own, and reasonably priced. Goes by Wyatt Burp on the Colt, S&W, and I think Ruger forums.

Ringler Custom leather, the "Linebaugh" holster is awesome (I have two). Simplicity at it's best, functional yet beautiful. BEST piece of gun leather I've EVER owned.
