Just sent an email to Magnum research to inquire about a 500 JRH. Asked if the cylinder could be fluted though I assume with a hefty round like that you can't flute the cylinder as it needs all the beef it can get to handle the pressure generated by the 500. Any thoughts on a fluted 500 JRH? They can be fluted, Fluting on a 5 shot cylinder doesn't reduce its strength I have one of there large frame 500 S&Ws that they fluted, they only asked me 2 questions. first was did I really want to reduce the weight? Second was to check the heat-treat, some of there early guns had problems (bulging there cylinders)with the really hot factory ammo (Corbons)and that they changed there heat-treat to fix this. The newer heat-treat leaves a brownish tint in the chamber. Here's that gun, I'm thinking about selling if anybody is looking, this is an old picture and has a bisley gripframe on it now that will be going with it .
