You guys loading for that 50AE BFR before you send it for a 500JRH cylinder? I cast a 330 bullet I load in my FA. Got to keep the bullet weight down on the AE or it will jump the required taper crimp. Haven't tried a full case of Trail Boss yet but I'd bet that it would make a nice easy shooting load. Bullet is the one on the far left. I'm thinking I'd better get the Trail Boss, some 50AE brass, chrono, and some paper together and head to the range..

Did I tell you guys be very careful not to turn any lead up at the case mouth? Crimping as a separate action is a must. When my first loads would not chamber I contacted FA. Bob himself told me to look at the case mouth. Ended up taking a pocket knife and running it around the case mouths of each cartridge..

Axe, Ive played with the 50AE in a FA, ken got me started using 2400 and CCI 350 Magnum primers, if your happy with lighter weight bullets (275-350grs) and keep it below 1100-1200fps the 50AE is a good one.
I sent both my 50AEs to Freedom arms for 500WE cylinders just last week, I'm hoping to find a 440gr 500WE load with the same point of impact as my 275gr 50AE load and use the 50AE as the special and the 500WE as the magnum.
One thing to remember, a .50cal bullet moving at 1100fps and weighing 300grs packs a lot of punch!

Tim, I daresay that achieving the same POI with a 275 AE & a 440 WE ain't gonna happen. Too much bullet weight difference.
Riorider, Speer 325 gr. JHP, 21 gr. 2400, CCI 350's (essential) for 1110 fps from my 6" AE. Accurate hog killer.
500 WE: Horn 350 gr. XTP, 32 gr. H110, Fed. 210's for 1350 fps from my 6" WE's. Accurate and readily kills stuff up through bison. AND / OR: 325 gr. cast Hunters Supply, 21 gr. 2400, CCI 350's (essential) for 1150 fps from 6" or 1125 fps from my 4 3/4" WE's
These last 2 WE loads shoot to the same POI from my guns, and ALSO to the same POI as the above AE load from my one 6" AE / WE scoped convertible (!).

Now is this turning out to be a fine little thread or what? These 50AE FA and BFR revolvers pop up priced right from time. The AE is a fine cartridge so long as you keep the bullet weight down. We can have 500WE and/or 500JRH cylinders made for them too!

Hi, I am new here but have been lurking for a month or two. Is it true that Magnum Research/BFR is now offering alternate cylinders for their 50AE BFRs? If so, their website doesn't state that. I would like a spare cyl for a rimmed cartridge for my 50AE BFR. Thanks.
