I was at the store today and was fliping thew a random gun magazine and there was a article on the lipsey 45lc flattop black/white grips. Article stated the the barrel came with a 11 degree forcing cone and cylinder a perfect .4525.
Can anyone confirm this Not in the market just curious

BUT FOR THE RECORD I HAVE THREE OF THE NEW .45 F-Ts AND WHAT HE SAYS IS TRUE.

Yes Sir. I usually just use the magazine rack to see whats new. Then research it on web sites such as this. Some magazines are just one giant comerical.
No disrespect to Brian. I didnt even look to see who it was written by.

Those sure are nice guns. I hope to add one to the safe but other things just keep getting in the way. Maybe after the first of the year I can do it. I would love to see Ross Seyfried start writing on handguns again. I bet he would do a great write up on the new flat top.

I hope to get one in early 2012. Should make the perfect sibling to my 5 1/2 Lipseys 44 spl.

I have been shooting, reloading, and casting bullets for a very long time. Yet, I still thoroughly enjoy reading John Taffin, Brian Pearce, and Mike Venturino.
When a new gun comes out, if I am interested, I get my information direct from those good people and trust them. They have access to information that I don't (I have a variety of manuals both old and new) but I KNOW where to go.
I have a recently acquired Ruger Bisley SS .45 Colt/.45 ACP Convertible or I would certainly be interested in the new flattop .45 Colt. I do have two .44 Special flattops to console me, however...

Don't know what anything measures on this one, but it shoots good enough: The front sight is aftermarket custom.

I have some plated .451 bullets that slide right through the Colt cylinder, and .452 gas check bullets that need a little tapping to go through. The ACP cylinder requires a some tapping of the .451 bullets, and the .452 bullets are too tight to push through with my thumb.
I know how scientific that just sounded, but I haven't taken the gage pins from work home to check 'em yet...because they seem fine to me.

Just curious, did the front sight base come with the cuts for a pinned in sight, or did you have to have that done when they provided the sight. Sadly, my Lipsey .44 Special Bisley has a too short front sight and is not made for a pinned front sight.

cadillo,
The stainless models come with pinned sights and the blued ones are one piece. Most of the big smiths can hook you up with a replacement blade system for a pretty decent price.
Hope that helps,
Stump

Ross S. did write a very good article on the new 44 Special flat tops in the bisley configuration. He discussed using lapping bullets and snugging groups up and he was very impressed with the guns he had to work with.

Hope that helps, Stump That sounds about right. My SS .45 Convertible has the pinned front sight, and the midframe .44 SP Blued does not. Oddly the one with pinned sight is the perfect height, but the one without is TOO SHORT. Just my luck! Thanks for the reply!
