It is Lee, like I tell my wife when I drive either of the tankers - The Lug Nut Rule. He with the most lug nuts RULES!
You would still be amazed at how stupid some drivers are in pulling out in front of you when you are tooling down the road with 50,000# of steel and poop. They must think you can stop these things on a dime. Good thing for loud air horns. It is funny how quick a Yugo can go when he hears an air horn and looks back and sees the bottom of your trucks' bumper in the upper half of his rear view mirror.

The furthest I have customer up that way is just west of Banks. I mostly work in the Yamhill, Polk and Marion county areas.

A 550 Cat should be plenty of motor.....I had a 565 Cummins in the last rig I drove (recently retired) and it did a decent job with this bridge beam and a gross vehicle weight of 220,000.

Man dawg, that is a LOAD! My max if both compartments are full is only 50K. I talked to the original owner today and he said the truck was actually pretty decent fuel economy wise as long as you didn't use all 550 ponies! ;D

Hi Robb, I got a pump question for you. I apologize if this side tracks the thread, but how often does a septic tank need to be pumped?

We use a pumping frequency guideline that several of the universities have agreed upon. It is based on the size of the tank, the number of people in the house and whether there is a garbage disposal or not. If there are 2 people with a 1000G tank and NO disposal, the suggested time is once every six years. If the same two people have a disposal, once every 4 years. If it is a family of 4 on a 1000G tank without a disposal, once every 2 1/2 years. With a disposal, about 1 yr and 9 months.

Oh crap! (no pun intended) I've been in my house for 8 years and have never had mine pumped. I better get on that. What's the downside of not doing it assuming that things aren't backing up?

Going too long between pumpings is no different than deciding you are not going to change your oil or worry about your cholesterol while you weigh 500# and eat 6 Big Macs a day. In the case of a septic system what you do is start moving the solids from the tank out into yoru drainfield and leachlines and you get the pleasure of replacing those lines. Like I tell folks in my business, the cost of the new drainfield may only be $5000 - $6000 but the collateral damage costs of restoring the sprinkler system, the exposed aggregate sidewalks, the landscaping, the nice vinyl fence and the underground power can way exceed the cost of the repair. When the drainfield goes bad you suddenly notice these smelly black wet spots that even your dog wants nothing to do with and then the wife gets into the act and boy are you hosed.

Very classy truck, Robb. If I were a might younger I'd send a resume.

Very nice Robb, I've been driving tractor trailers since I retired from the Coast Guard, just something about being in a rig.

Thanks for the comments guys. I took it back to the company that assembled it a few days ago to fix one little thing they forgot and we were able to pick it up yesterday. That was the last hitch so this weekend the hoses, tools etc will be put on it and next week it makes it's maiden pump job. I think the first one will be here at my house just to play with the new controls etc then once it is verified as job ready the Freightliner can come off line for awhile and get some cosmetic work done on it. It is a FL106 that is painted the same silver but with a burgandy cab so it will go in and get repainted the new blue color as quick as I can get the money together.
I have to admit, when the accountant told me I needed to buy this business almost 15 years ago I thought he was crazy. That is until I realized how many folks do NOT live on city sewer and no matter what the economy, people are going to eat and use the toilet. The best part is I got to leave the travel every fourth week like I was doing before and be home for my three little kids every night. I may do a dirty job but I never missed another soccer match, basketball game or track meet all the years my kids were in school.
