The talk over in the single-actions section about light weight big-bores has got me to wondering about something Mr.Taffin hinted at quite a while back. He didn't say anything specific but hinted that Charter had thoughts of introducing a .45 caliber (presumably ACP) similar to the .44 bulldog.
Anybody got any idea if such a thing might happen? If so, I believe that would go right to the top of my wish list.

I've heard talk of both a 45ACp and a 40 S&W Bulldog but haven't seen one yet. Nothing on CA's website about either one. I would like one of each.

We got to shoot a Charter "Pit Bull" 40 S&W at SHOT 2011 Media Day: (It's in the video too, about a minute and a half in): www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfCBDhz4RMUNeat little gun, but they are still working on extraction issues. They are fine folks, and when they introduce it, it will be RIGHT.

A 45 Colt Bulldog would be slick, but boy those cylinder walls would be thin. There's very little meat in their 44 Special. -Lee www.singleactions.com

I agree. Doubt the cylinder is big enough to safely handle 45 Colt.

Yes, I was assuming that at least the cylinder would have to be larger. Maybe the frame too.
Sure was hoping Mr. Taffin would chime in with some newer info.

Lee, you are probably right about the thinness of the cylinder walls for a .45 cal. Bulldog. Just kinda dreaming! There really isn't anything wrong with the .44 Special either! There are some really good .44 Special loads on the market now too. If you try some Trail Boss in the Bulldog .44 you are in for a treat! Frank

I am still waiting for a 6" target bulldog in .44 Special and a target bulldog in .41 Special. The presisdent of the company sent me a email and said that the 6" gun would probably happen. I love the little guns and found that they make great hog repellent.......................

Everytime S&W came out with its new and improved ultra lites, I thought to myself "Wow... they've re-invented a gun that Charter still makes, and doubled or tripled the asking price". I have a pug in 44 special, a target 'dog in 357, and I HAD a target 44... which, in a fit of pique, I allowed myself to release for a handful of useless paper. Am I the only one who spends a good portion of his collecting time and dollar trying to replace guns I stupidly turned loose of? I would love to have a lightweight moonclip fed Charter 45... and a Kel-Tec 45 ACP carbine would be nice too.

I've been daily CCW'ing my Bulldog. Have 185gr FWC over 7gr of Unique in the cylinder. The reloads are 200RNFP's. They find their way into the cylinder easier. Yeah, if ya drill all the holes bigger, there ain't gonna be much left ! steve b

There have been two in 40 S&W sell on Gunbroker. I have not seen the 9mm or 45 acp that was promised. The 45 ACP is supposedly NOT moon clipped, and neither is the 40. I think that is the issue, to get the spring loaded extractor work properly. I am guessing, but I would expect the 45 ACP model to be STANDARD VELOCITY only with as thin as the chambers will be...........
I would buy one in 45 ACP and just use it for lead bullet reloads......................

www.charterfirearms.com/products/CARR.htmlCharter Arms Rimless Revolver (CARR) will be available late Fall 2009! Charter Arms announces an affordable revolver that chambers rimless semi-automtic rounds the same way as a standard rimmed-cartridge revolver. Now the average gun owner can own an affordable, trouble-free revolver chambered in these popular semi-auto rounds without the need for specialized ammunition clips and a specialized gun. With the patent-pending Charter Arms Rimless Revolver Round System a round is loaded into the chamber and a specialized spring engages the cartridge’s ejector groove. When the cylinder is opened and the ejector rod operated, it extracts and ejects the fired cases. Available Calibers Charter Arms will first offer the .40 S&W followed by the .45ACP and 9x19 mm Parabellum (the 9mm Parabellum revolver will also chamber factory .380ACP). All three Rimless Revolvers (9mm, .40 and .45) will be rated for higher velocity +P loadings.
