I applaud you using real loads! Now take care and pick your costume carefully and you'll find great pleasure in the game. The guns and fullish loads and outfits were my favorite parts, the shooting was fun and I never cared about my time only that I shot clean.
I used to like shooting a pair of 2nd gen 61 Navies or a pair of 61's once owned by John Bianchi, and an Uberti 66 Winny that I never had a miss with! Man I love that rifle!

Ah. Didn't know they allowed more speed for rifles. That's damned interesting, I thought the 1,000fps cap was for both.

I used to like shooting a pair of 2nd gen 61 Navies or a pair of 61's once owned by John Bianchi, and an Uberti 66 Winny that I never had a miss with! Man I love that rifle! I don't understand some of the thinking in the sport, winning at all costs. They refer often to the "Cowboy Way". To me that is a sort of code of conduct, doing what is right. The cowboy is an American icon. People who whine and snivel are told to "Cowboy Up". To me, the term cowboy means fair play, helping someone in need ie coaching to shoot better, politeness and doing what is right for right's sake. Without getting too spiritual it is how I know my Lord would want me to behave. With that in mind I feel that to shoot anything less than what a real cowboy would shoot is defeating the whole purpose of the sport. I keep it simple. I just think what would John Wayne shoot? After reading his books I now ask myself "What would JT shoot". But then I would probably have to trade my 45s in for 44s. I will shoot Gunfighter style when allowed because I want to learn to shoot a sixshooter well with each hand. In a real life shooting, necessity may demand that I use my left hand. A good shooter would want to master using a gun with either hand, just in case. I researched and found my Chippewa lace up Packer boots are allowable. Good thing. They are the most comfortable boots I've ever worn. I thought a brace of Colt Navy clones would be awsome but due to hand problems I need New Vaqueros with SBH hammers. I still need a hat. I never knew there were so many styles and levels of quality. Wool, beaver felt, the list of options goes on and on. I have an original Win 97 12 g so now all I need is a 92 clone in 45 Colt and I'll be set. I'll probably use a tang sight because of my "old" eyes. Because I am a retired cancer nurse I picked the alias of Payne Keller. This sport should be a hoot. I wish those who quit would join back in. I need some like minded pards that want to shoot real loads and have fun shooting. Sorry for going so far off the topic.

...Every double action revolver I've had the fun of shooting extensively has developed excessive end shake. Single actions never have.... ....The extra long extractor rod in the cylinder will prevent the use of the barrel mounted ejector rod thus making the use of the loading gate problematic at best.... Joe I have personally seen HUNDREDS of single actions with excessive end shake at Alan Harton's shop alone. Until one sees the ejector in use, I don't know how you can say it's a problem. It looks like it will slide right by it to me.

I need some like minded pards that want to shoot real loads and have fun shooting. Sorry for going so far off the topic. Oh you'll find plenty like you out there, they are there for sure. I have been thinking of getting back out there myself this spring. Maybe instead of sitting on the interweb giping and complaining, I should go back and live what I talk. Thanx for reminding me of the importance of doing what you stand for and not just blowing steam. Good luck to you Mr Payne Keller(great alias BTW), Shoot straight and have fun!! Off topic?? I though that was a requirement on this forum! LOL! Adam alias Grat Masterson SASS#27310

Looks like some shooters would like 'em. That's a good thing in my opinion.

I like the swing out cylinder and the short stroke hammer, that big spur on the other hand...
