Hmm....Mig, Tig or stick? Lol
For real though, that would so suck to have a cracked frame! Have often thought of finding a 327.

Damn I hope I dont have problems out of mine. I paid a pretty penny for it already and still had to have the cylinder throats honed out. They were WAY TOO SMALL at .356” dia.

I am a sucker for snubbies, the Nightgaurds intrigued me for sure, not sure which of the models I would pick if given my druthers. It would not be the 44mag, too much fun in such a small light package... How about a Night Guard model 315 in 38 Special?

I think the 396 44sp might have gotten the nod. Hard to say.

I too like "snubbies" and the light weights. Here's a 2.5" 329 Alaska backpacker with a stainless steel cylinder (it weighs the same as the 4" 329s). . . I about to take the dogs for a walk and will take the Backpacker along - it fits nicely in the rear pocket of my carharts. . Paul PS Would love to find a 325.

Paul do you get a volume discount on those grips from Hogue? I will say they are game changers for alum framed Smiths, worth every penny. What do you think of that 2.5” vs the reg 4” 329? They seem to be a real handful regardless of the load but sure work for the task at hand of carry a lot shoot a little guns.

I've worn out 4 or 5 sets over the years mostly on 44 Mags. Here's a picture of where they wear out. . . Haven't shot either gun recently but IIRC I couldn't tell any diff in recoil between the two. The 2.5", even though it is the same weight as the 4", rides with a bit less wobble in the hip pocket (forgot it was even there walking the dogs earlier today). Been kind of sidelined with life this winter and haven't shot as much as I'd like - that is about to change with the arrival of spring. I'll put the 2.5" gun to work with some 44 special level loads for sure. Paul

And have a couple of model 296. One of which will get a semi hammer like a model 38 Love snubbies

AxeHandle, In this image, where the old blackpowder cup would be, it appears to be an inletted piece of metal? Or am I seeing things? Kevin

That is a shield you will see in all the scandium guns to prevent flame cutting the top strap.

That is a shield you will see in all the scandium guns to prevent flame cutting the top strap. It may slow it down but it doesn't prevent it on Magnum guns (329 pictured). . . Underneath the shield shown above. . . Suspect that this is not a problem with light to moderate pressure cartridges/ammo. Paul
