One of my favorite revolvers is my Smith and Wesson 24-5 Heritage Series. The stocks it comes with are beautiful service style round butts. They look great, but with my large hands they are borderline unshootable. Does anyone know of a custom maker that offers closed back stocks for a round butt N frame? I have a set of K Frame Jordan Troopers from Herretts that I love, but unfortunately they are not taking custom orders right now. My favorite inexpensive placeholder grip is usually the plastic Pachmayr Jordans as even though they're ugly, the fit me very well. Attachments:

Wouldn't a set of square-butt stocks fit? There would be two small gaps, but they'd be hidden.
EDIT: Never mind. I clicked on your image and realized these don't look like they take contemporary Smith stocks.

Most target grips you’re going to find aren’t going to have closed backs on them. Culina makes a great full size round-> square grip.

I reached out to Culina awhile back. They will not do closed back stocks. With the length of my trigger finger, closed back is needed for me to have proper trigger reach. I would love to find someone that would make something like a closed back Roper. The only wood stocks I have found that are closed back are Nill Griffe. I have considered a set of those, but would prefer something more traditional for this gun.

I would suggest Keith Brown, but according to his web site, he is no longer taking orders - kbgrips.com
I am fortunate to own some of his stocks and my favorite is a closed back for the K Frame.
Rarely original Ropers with closed backs will be found, but are expensive.

How about member Zane at LSCG (Lone Star Custom Grips)? Can he help you out?

I've bought some of the Thailand grips. They aren't perfect, but they do work and are fairly priced.

Rowen does closed backs I believe. If you can afford the freight you won't see a better set anywhere. In addition to the cost you will need to send in your gun, and it may be gone for quite some time. I'd love to find someone like Chigs Grips that did S&W.

I'll have to check out Lone Star and Rowen. I've seen Rowen before and although the work is absolutely gorgeous, I have several other guns I'd like similar stocks for so price is a factor. Thank you all for the advice.

I believe that Herretts is still in business. Although their website has a limited set of options I was advised about a year ago that they can still make their old stock styles, several of which were closed back. They were pretty affordable and I had them make me a few sets several years ago that all came out great. I would give them a call.

I haven't used them, but it looks like KSD makes closed backs. They offer a lot of custom options, even Nils like Olympic target style. www.ksdgripsusa.com/product/smith-wesson-n-frame-5The prices make me think the wood you receive will not have the kind of grain in the pictures.
