Yeah, any time I want to make my hand look smaller, I pick up a New Service.

Yeah, any time I want to make my hand look smaller, I pick up a New Service. A New Service is a man's gun. The adverts from the '20s call it the Outdoorsman's gun - possibly why S&W trademarked the name "Outdoorsman". The NS was designed for cavalry, if you want to fit the gun, put on a pair of riding or work gloves. As an aside, do not shoot a square cylinder latched NS .45 Colt with your thumb straight - you'll break your thumb nail....don't ask The OP's revolver shows British Military WW1 inspection markings - we can be safe assuming that the gun was returned to the US in the 1950s or early 1960s by one of the many mail order houses. The crew that started Micro Sights came out of Kings in the early 1950s.

My grandpa's new service dispatched many a nutria rat during his life. That or a rohm 38 were all I can recall him carrying.

That’s a really nice 455 Eley you have. Basically it’s the 455 Colt= 455 Eley= 455 Webley Mk 1 case. It is not the 45 Colt, which can be converted to the Mk 1 case with trimming and rim thinning. You all will note he is using a proper 0.456” bullet to shoot in it. The Webley will do about the same with the longer Mk 1 cases and larger to fit bullets or with the typical hollow base round nose Webley ammo has typically. Thanks very much for showing off those nice Eleys.
