All the handgun guys mentioned. I want to put in a plug for JL though. I had the great opportunity to meet so many fellow sixgunners at his seminars over the years. Very blessed by that

Starting early as a hunter, more than a gun guy, Bob Milek, JD Jones and Larry Kelly really inspired me as a handgun hunter. Once getting into reloading, building and collecting revolvers all the same as mentioned in previous posts. I’m proud to say, many of the people I admire, I have been able to meet in person, shoot and hunt with, and call many friends. I find Handgunners in general are just a better quality of people.

What ever happened to Mr. Lloyd Smale? I always enjoyed his work. For me, growing up it was Elmer Keith, John Wooters, Ross Seyfried, Charles Askins, Sasha Siemel, Larry Kelly…… and J.D. Jones.

Ross Seyfried’s writings, pictures, hunts and projects were my biggest influence on my single action journey. Bob Milek was the other inspiration in my younger days.

Once I got my first 44 magnum Ruger after high school, Mom got me a copy of Taffins "book of the 44", then a copy of Keiths "Sixguns".... which lead into Skeeter.
222 Remington- multiple family members used to own 'em (key word "used to"), for some reason it just stuck with me until I got a clean 60's production Model 700 BDL at an estate auction from a gentleman who hunted at the farm. Recently getting back into this cartridge.
44 Special - Elmer and Skeeter....bought my 5.5" Bisley Blackhawk in 2018 and we had a new baby and a house...so my reloading outfit got moved up from my parents. I stated to re-assess my reloading of ammuntion to handloading, which eventually brought me to singleactions.com where I started reading David Bradshaws writings and saw the sensational shooting done with the Ruger 03 which lead me into the....
45 Colt- Loved the 44 MAgnum, think I like this one even better in the Ruger. Eventually I started reading everything I could find from Seyfried, Linebaugh and Jim Taylor.
I was fortunate to grow up 15 minutes from CH4D's shop and was great friends with Dave Davison's grandkids, his love of handgun hunting, double rifles, Africa and handloading really lit the fire in me .

I read lots of magazines as a kid and young adult. Seyfried, Milek, Simpson and more but was always looking for more from John Linebaugh. I'll admit to printing out the internet into a 3 ring binder so I'd have all his articles. As I got older it was Brian Pearce. I need to read more from Keith.

Skeeter caused me to get my first .45 Colt . THANK YOU SKEETER! Keith, Milek, Wooters, Grinnel and a host of others fanned the flame. Then Metallic Silhouette came along. Its been a fun ride. You can only be led to the water, you have to have the desire to drink.

There is not a name mentioned that I am not familiar with as I am 76 years old and have been reading gun mags since I was 12 years old. I think Elmer and Skeeter were my biggest influences because Hell, Elmer was there and Skeeter was close to my neck of the woods and I loved his writing style. I also read a bunch from Charles Askins, Al Goerg, and Major George Nonte. I literally read those mags from cover to cover, taking it all in, even the things that didn’t interest me all that much. I always wanted revolvers much more than anything else and read anything that anybody wrote about them. I tried my best to get my dad to buy one of those old surplus Webleys that were sold back then for about $30, but he wouldn’t budge. Dad just wasn’t a fan of handguns. I remember the old Gun World magazine back then, Jack Lewis and another whose name escapes me. An article about Thell Reed in Gun World really amazed me and was the first time I ever saw his name in print. Not the last time though ! Thinking about the gun mags and the guys that influenced me got me thinking about all the guns that have been in my life. Hell, I could start a war !

When I was student teaching in the early ‘80’s I discovered a stash of old outdoor magazines that included some articles (probably reprinted) written by Townsend Whelen. He was an early influence as was Elmer Keith and Jack O’conner whose articles I also found in that musty stack.
A few years later I was able to subscribe to a number of magazines and found the work of Skeeter Skelton, Bill Jordan and Jeff Cooper. Later Ross Seyfreid and John Taffin joined the ranks of my influences.
There were others, but these are the ones that wrote the articles that I alays read and whose books I bought if possible.
