For me...the 66-1 would have been more practical. However, that does look like it would be a fun little rifle.

I couldn't find one with my sights on it. Is this what is considered a vernier? What's the value of such a piece?

Just got a vision of a guy on horseback, galloping away, holding a bucket of water... Have to change your moniker to QuigleyJR. She looks sleek and deadly.

At 58 years of age I was concerned about the sites but before I hold it down and put it in the house yesterday I threw around in it and hit what I was aiming at at 75 yards

Greg.... the Vernier Caliper sight is designed to take advantage if the eye’s NATURAL CENTERING a peephole or aperture close to the eye. This effectively makes your eye the rear sight. An aperture moved froward of the eye forces the eye to hunt for center. Eye relief its short for effective natural aim. Am aperture in the “scout” position is just a variation on the open sight. And it is why an aperture on a sixgun not only slow, but wrong.
Reckon Vernier (tang sight) pricing is all over the place, based on precision and refinements----including windage. A number of companies made Vernier sights. Your sight may take different screw-in apertures.
Kooks like the globe front sight is made for interchangeable inserts of the Lyman 17A type. David Bradshaw
