Back when I joined this forum during the summer of 2009, even though there were a good number of established gunsmiths, all I heard was Harton, Harton, HARTON! Impeccable craftsmanship, wizard of welding, etc. Never forgot that.

Anyone know what his backlog might be?

Not sure what Alan's backlog is but I don't think he's taking in any Ruger work at this time, I believe he's only doing Colt revolvers for now.

He restored my .44 Flattop and did an incredible job on a rough old gun.

All but one of my customs were built by Alan with the most "exotic" being my first custom in 2003 IIRC. I very recently (two weeks ago) dropped by his shop to pick up a Standard Manufacturing 45 Colt that he restocked and checked the internals hardness. All was great.

I don’t have any full customs but Alan has slicked up the innards on several Rugers for me.

Five shot 45 Colt by Harton, Dall ram grips shaped by Rowen, harvested by Synd. Pay no attention to the bulged barrel…. Tim

Someplace Tim has a USFA 41 Special by Alan with Roy Fishpaw musk ox grips of at least he used to have one.

You guys! I should have found this forum 25 years ago. Then, when I could afford some customs, I later realized that I needed to “thin the herd” due to age. But, lots of vicarious looking at a lot of great customs.

Awesome guns. Thank you for sharing. My 2 are worked over but not really full customs. I think if I had asked for much more, Alan would have told me No. Im glad to have them. 5 years ago when I bought my first single action I started reading about customs. Max Prasacs Big Bore Revolvers book got me hooked and John Taffins books helped me understand some things. I wish I had got into these guns sooner.
